Congratulations
Well with the Season nearly at a close
I would like to say Congratulations & Well done to the Management, Staff and players for ensuring League Two Football for Next Season:) Okay we have had a Topsy Turvy Season but the facts are: We have improved on Last Seasons points Haul We have improved on Last Seasons League Placing It would be good to go out on a high by beating Bury next week:theband: Also Well done to the Supporters for Turning up week in & week out and for helping to turn some critical games in Stanleys Favour:mosher: |
Re: Congratulations
Ok we survived in League 2 but the other side is the tripe we have served up at home has been a joke mainly due to Colemans tactics. I don't think he has learnt much this season as the same old problems just kept coming back at us time after time. My opinion is it's time for him to go and no matter how positive you always try to be Pendle Red, sometimes to the point where I want a sick bag, I will not be getting a season ticket next year unless Coleman and Bell depart.

Re: Congratulations
Everyone is entitled to an opinion Baggy believe me I could rant for pages of what I would like the Club the to do, where improvements can be made, what they should be doing, but I am not running the Club!
I am a mere Supporter but if I can do one thing or say one thing that makes somebody sit up and think yeah maybe everythings not that bad, that will do for me:) As you said my positivety makes you want to reach for the Sick Bag I would like to think it is more trying to balance up the negativity that sometimes seeps through on these boards:) |
Re: Congratulations
Family Excellence Award
New £1m stand on the way. Academy starting to bear fruit Community Football team active in Hyndburn Transfer record broken (by some distance) The club is moving forwards and refuses to stand still. Maybe things aren't always a barrel of laughs but there are still many clubs who would love to be in our position, not least of all Wrexham. People on this board have called for a bigger name manager to be brought in yet Brian Little (6 years after being touted as an England Manager) has overseen the demise of Wrexham. People on this board bemoan the lack of facilities at the ground yet two of the finest grounds in the division (Wrexham and Mansfailed) will be gracing Non League next season. Be proud of what we are and what we have - even if its not what we think we should have. |
Re: Congratulations
I reckon Macca has hit the nail right on the head there!

Re: Congratulations
Two good points here put forward by Pendle and Macca on the pro side and Bagpuss on the cons side.
I know i`ve moaned about some of our preformances, but rightly so in my opinion, as like Bagpuss i like to see the side play well and with passion. But on the other hand i do think the club are moving forward in other ways, so its not all doom and gloom as yet. Its all part of being a fan (no matter who you follow) taking the rough with the smooth. |

Are Mansfield down? Thought they still had a chance if Chester lose against Stockport midweek and results go their way next weekend

Re: Congratulations
so many good things have happened this year
6 points off Morecambe 3 points away from home at an ex premiership side I could go on but then I would have nothing left for my column in the prog next week!!! loweiy |
Re: Congratulations
Two-hundred-and-nine quid to watch another season of league football in your home town. Ten years ago you wouldn't have dared dream that it was possible. Get yer hand in yer pocket, Baggy, and everyone else who hasn't coughed up yet!

As for Coleman & Bell doing better than last season. Yes we will finish with more points than last season, we will finish a couple of places higher up in the league, but last season we lost 22 games this season so far we have lost 26 games, last season we scored 70 goals this season so far we have scored 49. Last season at home we lost 7 league games this season so far we have lost 14 games. Last season at home we scored 42 goals this season so far we have scored 20 goals. Is it any wonder that the gates are down and who is to blame for that - the players - the very people that Coleman and Bell employ, the very people who do what Coleman and Bell tell them to do, the very people who play when Coleman and Bell pick them to play. Who apart from Kenny Arthur out of last close season's signings has been a success this season, who apart from Kenny Arthur out of last close season's signings is still at Stanley and you would like to stay at Stanley. Coleman and Bell signed these players. I don't think that this season has been a successful season and if any of you think it has then you are easily pleased, I've been to every game and some of our performances have been diabolical and if you think that diabolical performances contribute to a successful season then I honestly don't know what to say. |
Re: Congratulations
I agree that this season has been disappointing in many ways. But not every team can play well or win every week. Its a bit of a daft statement really because every team in the division wants to play better or more consistently than they do. But this is where we reap what we have sown in winning the Conference rather than coming in th etop six for the best part of 10 years a la Morecambe. If we had done that then we would no doubt have better crowds, better facilities and better backroom organisation than we currently do. But we would not have been playing Football League for the last two years.
We will play better football next season or the season after but for many people its not necessarily about playing the best football. Surely we'd all be at Ewood or Turf Moor or Old Trafford if we wanted to watch better football? All I ask is for the players to show the commitment and that is what has disappointed me the most this year. It has been lacking in so many games that it is untrue. But yet I will still continue to watch Stanley except for next season when personal circumstances dictate otherwise. |

as quoted to the press Jeff. New stand on the way, and NOT one of these silly waste of money temporary things that will make us even more of a laughing stock! << Macca prepares for incoming flak >> |
Re: Congratulations
link to the story to stop you having to trawl through Reds make a stand - Accrington Stanley FC - Football - Sport - Accrington Observer the bits for me that make th emost interesting reading are
"We had looked on putting temporary seats on the Whinney Hill terrace - which has been up since North West Counties days - like Barnet had behind their goal. "But that would cost around £100,000 and would be money, really, wasted as it is just a quick-fix solution. "So we are now investigating plans to put up a permanent structure. "This could cost up to £1m but hopefully it will be self-generating with changing rooms, new offices and places to rent. "If it does generate income we can borrow the money although there is also money available from the Football Foundation. and And it should give the club a more professional feel. The first thing most people see when they walk into the ground, is that stand which was put up by some dedicated volunteers in our North West Counties days and was good for non-League football. "When we get a more permanent brand new stand in place it will look nicer and will bring us up to League One standard." He admitted that, in the two seasons since Stanley have returned to the Football League, the club has learnt a lot. surely Jeff, you aren't suggesting that we will go back on that statement? |
