Re: Happy St Georges Day
Some little known facts about George........
England ditched St Edward the Confessor for a new patron saint and, in 1415 (the year of the battle of agincourt), made April 23 a national feast day (though one possibly without chicken tikka masala). George is also the patron saint of Portugal, Germany, Lithuania, soldiers and - less obviously - skin diseases and syphilis. George is also my fathers name and his birthday is April 23rd:cheers: |
Re: Happy St Georges Day
Thank you JANET,BAZF and CEEJACHE for bringing some very interesting and informative points to our attention I have learn a few facts from you:)
It is a shame that St Georges day is getting lost in political correctness and as a result a lot of the history and honour are NOT being pass on to future generations :( It is also a shame that some people can not bring such informative points to our attention and instead choose to Judge and bring down :( Instead of as JANET and BAZF who can inform and build up :) Thanks again PS Thanks kipax for the negative karma with no comment :) I choose to only give positive karma for good posts........As i think i'm man enough to just ignore the ones I dont like................ |
