OSC Annual General Meeting
 

The Supporters Club AGM will be held on Monday the 12th May at the Clubhouse at 7:15pm as usual.

At the last AGM in October we opted to shorten this terms calendar to seven months in order to bring the OSC into line with the football season, as annual subscriptions run per season rather than per twelve months. This motion was unanimously passed.

There will be a new Chairperson elected at this meeting. So far Harwood Red has been nominated for the post and she has accepted to stand for Chair.

Vice Chair currently held by Alvin the Chipmonk will not be contested unless he decides to stand down. This is due to being elected only three months ago due to Sparkie having to step down.

Treasurer is open but the current occupier, Bill Nuttall, has indicated that he will again stand for the position.

Secretary will also be available for election.

Membership Secretaries - Local - Harwood Red has indicated that she would be prepared to continue with this unless she was elected as Chair. Should this be the case then it will be a vacant position. National/International - Pendle Red has indicated that he will again stand for the position

Only members of the OSC can vote or be elected. Techinically, this seasons membership will have expired by the date of the meeting but you can register before the meeting if you wish to vote or apply for any of the Committee positions.

Treasurers end of year reports will be submitted
Membership end of year reports will be submitted
merchandise/eBay end of year reports will be submitted

Aims and ideals for the coming season will be discussed.


All are welcome to come along on the night
Membership renewals will be taken on the night but badges and cards are not yet ready so they will be retrospectively posted out.

Just a reminder about the AGM of the Official Supporters club tomorrow evening, please make it if you can especially if you are interested in standing for any of the vacant positions as mentioned above

Preferably would like someone else to take the reins of secretary its good to have a move around rather than the same people having to re-take positions because no one else will give it a go & its definately worth a go it is a prestigeous role within the OSC. Will like another challenge should any other position be available or elected, if membership secretary or other position available & dependant on other issues on the night:D

So if you can't attend the meeting, but are a member of the OSC, you can't vote on the new Chairperson?

Surely the vote should be open to all OSC members.

yes and no really. Had the existing committee wished it to be so then it could have been. Without meaning to bore none-meeting types the Official Constitution and Rules states that voting shall be by a show of hands. We could overrule that, we could amend the Constitution (at an AGM only) but, it could be open to mis-use or abuse or it could totally irrelevant voting. By that I'll use an example. You have come to meetings and have a good grasp on who does what and what we do and what we dont do that we should - your vote would no doubt be a good one. Jebediah Springfield does not come to meetings, does not know who does what or what we do. If he knows my name through posting on here or through being the person that took his membership money then no doubt I would get his vote whether I was worthy of it or not. Similar things happened with the Supporter of the Year voting and have happened every time there is an open vote. You can only hope that the right people get chosen.

In instance like yours Jay we would take a proxy vote because you do come to meetings when you can. But it has never been open invite. The AGM is advertised through local press and via the tannoy (as well as here, fishy and OSC site) for two to three weeks beforehand and it is commonly understood that this is where election takes place so most people who are local are aware of it.

We will at some point (hopefully next season) look at developing a mailing list for members so that they get minutes posted out to them every three months or so. When this happens everybody will be aware of who does what etc and will be more informed as to who to vote for in various circumstances.


The one thing that the present OSC tries very hard to avoid is exclusion, especially to paid up members, but it isn't always possible.

The other two minor points are that a) unless you are at the meeting you will not be aware of who, if anybody, stands against Harwood Red who is currently the only nominated person and b) memberships for season 07/08 have now expired so technically you would have to be at the meeting tonight to renew your membership.

IOU's will be accepted for renewals or new members as that is what you'll be getting this year off us cos the new badges and cards will not be with us until early July:D
