It's true. Wasn't too long ago.

It was our own website, wasn't it? Around the time that Burnley's shirts were sponsored by their own website aswell.

Also this snippet from the official website archives dated Fri 7th Jan 2000:

Bridge insist sponsorship deal is safe
Accrington Stanley's current main sponsor, Bridge Computer Systems of Burnley have claimed that the three year deal arranged last summer is safe, despite the fact that the company went into administration recently. The managing director of Bridge, Mr David Price insisted that the problems were short term and that the company would emerge stronger than ever in the future, however he did hint in today's Accrington Observer that the sponsorship deal may have to be reviewed and only pledged guaranteed support until the end of the season. Bridge, designers of the official Stanley site have been a welcome sponsor for the club, who had to turn to chairman Eric Whalley's company EW Cartons for shirt sponsorship last season.

Seems as though shirt sponsorship problems are nothing new to Stanley ;) You can also see this shirt on the roof of the pool room in the Crown :)

Stanley lead way in promoting sponsors

From the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, first published Monday 27th Dec 1999.

SOCCER minnows Accrington Stanley may be in the lower leagues but believe they are are ahead of the Premiership when it comes to promoting sponsors.

The Reds, one of Britain's best-loved small clubs, believe they are the first club in the country to have an internet address on their shirts.

The current one carries the name and website address of the club's sponsor, Bridge Computer Systems, across the front.

The computer firm, based at the Network 65 business park near Hapton, has sponsored the UniBond Division One team since the start of this season.

Accrington Stanley commerical director John De Maine said: "We believe we are the first club in Britain to do this. "There are other clubs sponsored by computer firms, and even internet companies, but we've never seen any carry a website address on their shirts."

Company marketing manager Karen Lambert said: "We've done some research into whether Accrington Stanley is the first team to carry a website address on the its shirt.

"No one has yet managed to prove us wrong, and we are 99 per cent sure Stanley is the only team in the land to do so."

Bridge Computer Systems was founded about 10 ten years ago by managing director David Price.

The firm has recently shifted emphasis from its original business of selling computers and software. In addition to sales, Bridge now builds websites for customers and provides a range of e-business services.

I'm new to this football lark not sure of the rules, so keeping your hand in your pocket, is this why the umpire feller keeps yelling 'hand balls'?
