John Mullin ....

is on trial with us next week. If he impresses and shows his fitness then we can play the Mullin brothers on the pitch together for the first time ... and on the same side!

Re: John Mullin ....

the mullins connection up front sounds good ,it's got to be a improvement on last seasons crap.

ACCY TILL I DIE AND THEN SOME :alright:

Re: John Mullin ....

What we really need is someone with pace up front.

MCR ADIM 29-06-2008 13:53

Re: John Mullin ....

we did have someone with pace just that he never got a proper chance and played in resevers all year

Tin Monkey 29-06-2008 14:14

Re: John Mullin ....

If you're talking about McGivern, well he certainly wasn't the answer.

Pendle Red 29-06-2008 14:55

Re: John Mullin ....

John Mullin in midfield would be good:)
a good player who could bring a wealth of experience but we must play him in his natural position, too many times last season we had to make do with players being asked to play out of position and it did not work:(
must prove himself fitness wise first though

Re: John Mullin ....

Being unworldly in terms of league football I asked a diehard Burnley fan, "where exactly does he play?".

To cut a long story short, he didn't seem to know, saying, "them were dark days".

Branch revisited?

I mentioned in another thread, could be useful but injury prone. As ever with ex-Burnley players you aren't likely to get them on the way up, even we have a job doing that :D

Maybe there is too much judgement made on how players were years ago to how they could perform in League 2 next season.

PS to answer the original question he used to play up front, but switched to midfield in the past couple of years.

Re: John Mullin ....

i think he will be a good addition providing he plays as much as Paul.

Unsworth Leaves Burnley

Posted on: Mon 30 Jun 2008
David Unsworth has ended his association with Burnley Football Club after turning down the offer of a player/coaching role at Turf Moor.
The 34-year-old defender had been offered the dual role by Clarets manager Owen Coyle after his initial one-year deal expired this summer.
However, the former Everton and England defender has expressed a desire to extend his playing career and becomes a free agent from July 1.

A Cornucopia of OAP's ????.

I wouldn't worry about it, he's got a couple of years left in him yet. Wouldn't be suprised to see him go to another championship club or at least League One.

Re: John Mullin ....

As far as I know, Unsworth played 30-odd games for Burnley last season. Seems he could do a job for us, if he can be bothered (unlike Branch, Rogers, etc.). Looking at his quote in the LET about wanting to play, he can be bothered. Therefore, in the unlikely event that he fancies dropping down that far, sign him up (especially if he wants to help with the coaching, it would be nice to have a defensive specialist).

Only problem would be if he wanted to drop down that far (as lancsdave says) or whether he'd be too big a personality for our management team (too many examples to list).

I think it's the coaching side that he's trying to put off, although from what I can gather he is already doing his badges. It's because the coaching side was the primary offer on the contract he was offered that he turned it down.

When he came to us last season most fans moaned, he turned out to be one of the signings of the season.

Rhino (davey unsworth) despite getting older is easily championship quality.
I would eat my hat if he dropped into league 2.

Sorry Yonmon, posting on here was a bit of an aberration, I'm still having a big sulk over the Lancashire Stanley United proclamation, three months now and the bottom lip's still out.

Great news on the stand, though.
