...unlike yourself, of course - a veritable beacon of joy and contentment and an inspiration to us all last season! ;)

Tongue is obviously firmly embedded in your cheek, but to answer your question... I'll be there next season for 2 reasons. Firstly, I've been going to watch Stanley for the last 31 years and so therefore it's like a habit that I can't kick it. Secondly, I enjoy the social aspect of the games. I enjoy the banter and the humour of the people I regularly chat with, so whatever the quality of the football, I always leave the game feeling like I've had a good experience.

As I've said a load of times on here, losing football matches isn't something that gets me down anymore. I obviously enjoy it more when we play well and win games, but I've been going long enough to know that losing matches isn't the end of the world.

The difference this year is that I'm not really looking forward to the football part of the season. A large part of that is that I truly believe that we're going to struggle big time, but more importantly I feel that some of the fire has gone out of me. I'm hoping for re-ignition and bought another season ticket on the back of it. I hope that was a good decision. :)

you cant look at bradford city in same light any more as a ex prem team , if we beat , lets say Nelson , would you class that as beating an ex first division side ???? we drew with darwen , an ex first division team .

Yeah! Because that's what I do. Numpty!

When you've been going as long as me, I might allow you to acknowledge my presence.

TM has it right, football isn't a choice for many - it's a way of life, a rite of passage. Its something you just do. There are times in life (like this season for me) when you just can't make it. But like a comfy pair of shoes you know you'll soon be there again.

The results become irrelevant.

How low did we feel when we got relegated for the first time ever back in 97 (?)
... and who would have thought then that we would have three promotions within six years? Football ebbs and flows and you have to take each ebb knowing that you have had your flow or are due for a flow. We've had more flow than ebb so I'm relatively happy. Constant progress is a ridiculous expectation.

But in saying all that I do concede that people are maybe not enjoying the experience as much as possible and that progress can be made in many ways other than that of the playing staff and final league standings. That is where Stanley can improve massively - and most of that improvement can be done for free.

It was 1999 and it was a ghastly shock. Till then I thought the club only had no reverse gear. There had been nothing so unthinkable since Wigan fell from the top flight of Rugby League while I was at Uni.
