The number 12 for us looked a good prospect. Unlucky couple of mistakes by KA for the first two. We held our own in the first half well :)

Re: Burnley game today

1st half looked great.

Murdock and Edwards went off and it was a different story, we got battered in the 2nd half.

Id agree our number 12 looked good.

And Clarke is like lightening.

all in all if Murdock or Edwards get injured we are in trouble, simple as

Our biggest problem is, who's going to score the goals?

How did the youngster on loan from Blackburn do? Said on 2br that He was partnering Mullin up front.

Re: Burnley game today

thought Murdock stood out a mile. Number 9 looked useful.

lancsdave 26-07-2008 18:33

Re: Burnley game today

Having looked at a picture of him I think Clarke may have been number 9

VitalStanley 26-07-2008 18:51

Clark was number 9 yeah, looked very good, had pace to him

Final score was 0-3. Paul played, John didn't

I was a bit disappointed that Diego Penny wasn't in the Clayton End goal in the second half - I was going to shout insults at him in Peruvian Spanish!

Things got a bit heated for a few minutes. Also had the presence of a convicted murderer  Police checked to see if he was still serving a banning order, turns out it finished at the end of last season.

One mans loss is another man's gain, or in this case woman's gain. Somebody stood next to me was very pleased they changed keepers at half time :D

Not really. We played some nice stuff but we have not addressed the problem of lack of firepower up front. Oh for an Andy Bishop-type player who can make and take chances - we never worked their keeper at all. Plus points for me were the new left back who looked the part, feisty and a good footballer, and Murdoch at C.H. looked very solid in a 1st half defence which did the business.. Miles looked sharp , unrecognisable as the player who left us on loan - "who is the new no. 7", said my neighbour! Ryan(?) showed some good touches when he came on but gave the ball away too often.Massively dissapointed with Grant's performance today - he really has to convince me that he has what it takes, and Proccy was completely out of his depth today. I also thought Kenny should have done better with the 2 free-kicks, although the wall didn't do it's job for the 1st - it wasn't exactly a top corner job.
Like TM, I'm very, very worried by our complete lack of striking ability up front.

Personally I thought Clarke was poor, did he have a shot? I also thought that Murdock is not fit to lace Kempsons boots, did Coleman actually see him play, I thought he was too slow and was saved by Edwards on a few occasions.

To finish my moan I couldn't get a beer or a burger at half time because the *3100* had the lot before I got there.

Tin Monkey 26-07-2008 20:49

Re: Burnley game today

I'm seriously not moaning here, just expressing a genuine concern.

We will concede goals aplenty next season, because that's what we do. However, I honestly can't see where the goals are going to come from. Mullin might get 9 or 10 if we're lucky, but where are the others coming from? Craney will chip in with a couple maybe, but if we don't find a winger and a striker (or two), we're in serious trouble.

You thought last season was dull and depressing at home? Just wait for this one!! :(

Re: Burnley game today

We should remember there is a big gulf between League 2 and the Championship.

Sheffield Wednesday finished 16th there last season but won 4-1 at MK Dons in midweek and 2-0 at Bury (Andy Bishop and all) today.

Maybe but there was some good results today from League 2 clubs, be honest if we had been playing Barrow today we wouldn't have scored.

I know there's a gulf between the leagues, that's pretty obvious. But Bagpuss is right, we never created anything. We just got it forward to Mullin as fast as possible. I've seen that somewhere before.... lots of times.

Here's one Wyn!...'.
eres un negado'...with any expletive you choose to use between 'un' and 'negado'...
I tried to translate..'You are as low as a corn on the sole of a flat-footed pygmy'..but failed miserably !.
But as he wasn't at the Clayton End anyway, this would appear to be another exercise in purveying trivial information...
Alfred.E. smiles again!!.
Respect and regards!

I have to agree with Bagpuss reference the half time fiasco of trying to get a drink, that's just basic stuff and we did not learn from the same thing happening at the Bury game how much more of peoples hard earned could have gone into the Clubs coffers:confused:

Why was the Lounge Front Door Locked? Maybe there was a reason but it was not exactly packed to the rafters in there, did we shoot ourselves in the foot again:confused:

The game had a few plus points for me:
Chris King at Left Back looked very good, Murdock looked okay but as others have already mentioned up Front we just look so lightweight, lack of anything on Goal it does worry me that we have not signed a proven Striker and that needs to be addressed before the Season starts or it is going to be long hard season:(

Does it actually make a difference to the clubs coffers apart from the clubhouse bar ? The catering is outsourced so presumably they pay a fee for rent regardless of takings, unless they pay some sort of percentage of takings which I doubt.

As far as the food (and I use the word food VERY conservativley) stand is concerned, then yes Dave you have a valid point, however the beer stall is a different matter it is run, staffed by the clubhouse so yes the money would have gone to the club.

Thank you o wise one :D Yes it would have made a difference then, according to our lot they ran out at 2.45 in the away end

The back five (Arthur, Cavanagh, Edwards, Murdoch, King) looked almost (shh) solid. There you go Jeff - we might just be dangerous this season :D

Craney was awful. Please Morecambe - give us a decent offer and you can have him.
Miles was completely retarded as usual. Did someone say he looked sharp?! The sun got to you then!!
Clarke wasn't brilliant. Not penetrative enough.

Ideally, we need Anthony Barry, a Roscoe D'Sane who hits the target once in a while, and Gary Roberts.

Or more realistically... the Unibond's equivalents.

Re: Burnley game today

there really is no excuse for running out of beer in the stands. The beer is cans for gods sake and we should have crate upon crate piled up in advance. At the Bury game we ran out before the kick off and yet again at the very next opportunity we have run out before kick off. I don't know what the half time takings are usually but on lovely sunny days like yesterday and the Bury game they would have been quite high.

One of the main complaints from our lot is that when the bottled water ran they started charging £1 for a plastic cupful of it. Strange how the taps in the toilets didn't work ?

I agree with you. The defenders, for once, played the ball out of defence instead of just launching it anywhere (until Rocky came one) and they also looked solid. As for where are the goals coming from, remember we were playing against a Championship defence. There will be plenty of Championship clubs who will fail to score or penetrate Burnley's defence in the coming season. All in all I was pleased with the first half performance. Let's just wait and see what happens in competative games against Aldershot, Wolves and Port Vale before making any judgements.
