Where Are The Season Tickets?

I don't wish to appear impatient, but it's now 8 days to the start of the season and there is still not a word from the club about the season tickets. As far as I'm aware, other clubs (including non-league ones) have theirs by now. Yet not only are ours nowhere to be seen, but the club have said nothing about when they will be available. What's going on?

Maybe they'll announce it when they eventually update the website? Where's the news, where's the build up, where's the excitement?

8 Days to go!!....!!!!!

Remember the thread TM??...Like you I am totally disappointed i n, and mystified by the lack of enthusiasm displayed by the Club via the Fishy Site!.
It's no wonder that in another thread devoted fans of 'the Reds' were making similar comments about their lack of interest!!
Like Wyn says, it is far too late to attempt to convey to those waiting for Season Tickets
, any acceptable reason for the hold-up...This is what I meant by 'lack of quality'..what will 'New' Fans who have bought theirs
think of this apparent lack of concern !, or information regarding their purchases!.

'What me Worry'.....I'm beginning to !

Re: Where Are The Season Tickets?

I do indeed remember your thread YM.

I expected some sort of update to the site today, perhaps telling potential travelling fans what sort of squad will be turning up at Barrow tomorrow. It's a fair trek up there to see the youth team turn out. I tried ringing the club earlier, but there was no answer. Looks like a closed shop at the FES.

I was luckier than you, TM...I phoned and got a reply - I was told that the season tickets will be arriving on Tuesday. So, why have the club not put that on t'fishy site...along with a summary of the Burnley match, the promised "report pending" from the Burscough match, at least a little bit of info about the behind-closed-doors Huddersfield match and, as you say, a pre-match run down on the Barrow match?

Any football club's official site is its window on the world - a vitally important channel of communication to "sell" the club to casual and potential fans, whilst ensuring that regular fans feel a part of the club they love. So why is the Stanley site so lacking in information?

How long have we been saying the same thing Wynonie? Nothing ever seems to change and it reaches a stage where you start thinking that either the club is ignoring the issues on purpose, or they just don't care!!

Some people see it as moaning for the sake of it, but when the same things keep happening and nothing is done about it, then frustration is bound to boil over.

Wynonie Harris 01-08-2008 20:22

Re: Where Are The Season Tickets?

I would genuinely like to hear the club's take on this, but as they seem to ignore us (apart from the valiant bridge-building efforts of Southern Red and Touchline TV), then I don't suppose there's much chance. Sad really, as Stanley have had a good publicity boost with the exhibition and the reportedly healthy season ticket sales show that there is potential support out there. If the club had the slightest idea about publicity and Google Page Ranking, they would now be building on this. But they don't, so they aren't.

Can there be any club in the whole football league with such a pathetic lack of news/info coming from its website as ours offers? At this stage in last season's build up I remarked on the lack of discussion on this messageboard, suggesting that such apathy might be a warning sign of diminishing gates, as we all know it eventually was. I can't see it being any better this season. Why on earth shouild we have to rely on the Burscough website to get a report of the game at theirs, ffs? Sickening.

I think you've hit the nail on the head, for those not wearing those red tinted Stanley specs the whole set up is a joke. I wonder what our new sponsors think of it?

Re: Where Are The Season Tickets?

What surprises me is how little the club have used the exhibition to promote the new season. For example, if it were me in charge of promotion at the club I would have delivered some memorabilia to sell, i would have had a big fixture list printed and put at the entrance to the exhibition, i would have had some vouchers printed for discounts at games and i would have used the back drop of the exhibition to launch the new shirts or to sign people up for season tickets.

We've had over 1,000 people through the doors of the exhibition in the space of two weeks - surely these people are prime for promoting to!

i quite agree with you, if they had done something, like vouchers, posters etc, than even if only 50 people out of the 1,000 or so, went to a few of the first home games, thats 50 more people that might turn up next home game, thats 50 more people that are putting money into the club, gate fee, shirt, etc, more people better facilities.

only 7 days left. what will this season bring

I thought they were going to launch the strip at the launch of the exhibition. I was also told that they would bring a strip down to the exhibition to include so that we could advertise the new strip. That hasn't happened either.

Its just not good enough, another opportunity to get some bums on seats is going to waste after a lot of very hard work by people NOT being paid by the club. I whinge on about Eric Whalley but his 2nd in command Rob Heys has a lot to answer as well.

A prime example of what is wrong with the club - here is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity which Stanley should have grasped with both hands by putting into action the sort of ideas that Gayle has suggested. Instead, they've let the opportunity slip through their fingers, just as they did when we were promoted to the football league. When will the hierarchy at the club finally get it into their heads that they have to "sell" Stanley to the community far more than they are doing at the moment?

Gayle 02-08-2008 21:07

Re: Where Are The Season Tickets?

I suppose in all fairness to Rob Heys, he has said many times that if we needed any help we only had to ask and again, in all fairness he has delivered things we asked for.

I think the difference is in spotting the opportunity that it could be turned into.

OK lets turn this thread into "Ask Rob".

1. Why are we still waiting for the new kit, why was it not launched last week before the Burnley game?

My son wanted it for his hols but as there is no sign he now is wearing a brand new Liverpool kit.

I think you'll find, we change our shirt every year, regardless of sponsor. We have to, because we are a poor club.
We also pay more for our shirt than the majority of other clubs, for the same reason.

Nothing wrong with last seasons shirt, in fact I think its one of the best we've had and I will be wearing it this season as I think the new one looks cheap and nasty more like a t-shirt. Being an ex-Liverpool season ticket holder my son has been wearing Liverpool strips since he was born. I bought him a Stanley shirt 2 years ago which he still wears despite it looking a bit worse for wear and last seasons away kit for Christmas. I have no doubt that had the new shirt been available he would have chose that but he is of an age where his friends are plastic Man Utd supporters and doesn't want to be like that which I think is the right way to think.

I have never taken him to Anfield only the FES so as long as the doesn't choose Man U, Chelsea, Rovers, Burnley or Leeds I will let him decide but he came down dressed this morning in his last years Stanley away top, nuff said.:)

We've said it before if the stuff is there to buy people will buy it.

Ah!... this is great stuff.. the "more holy than thou" Accy Stan suporters getting all worked up about this seasons "new shirt" and not being able to get season tickets!..seems like only yesterday Wynonie was slagging off Accringtonians that dared venture past Baxenden to support local teams!.. no new shirts and no season tickets lads?... supply and demand eh?....perhaps the great Accrington Stanley have run out of both already this season. :D

Re: Where Are The Season Tickets?

Got anything constructive to contribute, Mancie? No? Thought not. In that case, why don't you toddle off back to your own club forum? Who was it now?...your, hometown club, Blackburn?...or Burnley, the club you started watching when you moved to the Accy area?...or the club you transferred your allegiances to next, Man U? We may be holier than thou fans, but one thing's for sure - none of us will ever be a plastic fan like you!

Re: Where Are The Season Tickets?

Well bodes well for my 1st season as ticket holder good job i expected nowt lol!! As HR & Gayle have rightfully said opportunity has been given & not taken at the exhibition. Nice surprise of seeing the shirts without the buildup ??? leaving some stunned stanley fans pondering are they or are they not:rolleyes:

Plenty of interest i can assure u & positive praise at the library but sadly the club have done nowt to capitilize on anything, assuring the 40th ann of the '68 is a bitter disappointment of its running. It is a sad thing to see, even harder when a group of fans put in a lot of effort with the little team we have & shown that a lot can be done, & the club pees that up against the wall with its own lack of running! One thing Mancie will know about is that 'no-one is bigger than the club' as man u adhere to, shamefully no-one seems to be bigger than Mr whalley at ours!!

i can understand alot of peoples frustration.

most successful league 1 and 2 clubs ( i dont neccessarly mean on the pitch but more so of it) are lead from the top down.
Nobody seems to be leading the club, if they are they dont know where they are going or how to get there.

If they have only just come in, why risk having them posted out and being lost ? That would create even more havoc on Saturday trying to take all the details of lost post and issuing temporary tickets.

Southerner eh! Not a closet Arsenal fan by any chance?

Raining and a bit cold? As Bachman Turner Overdrive would say, "You ain't seen nothing yet".

Welcome aboard semi-skilled, but you have to realise one first class stamp could break the bank, honestly! :)

Picked up tickets for me & 3 mates last night, then, unwittingly, walked through 'concessions' turnstile, & was let in for £3.00......... poor girl must have thought I was a decrepit OAP....... I'm 2years away from that!!!!

However, having £800+ quids worth of tickets in my pocket, I accepted the discount with good grace !!!!

Only another 2 years, & I can get my season ticket for half price!!

maybe too much info, don't want to get the turnstile operator in trouble...... if it helps, Eric, I did buy a programme, two Raffle tickets, plus a couple of drinks in the bar & if you're that bothered, I'll give you 3 quid on Saturday!!

Lee was a bit stressed today he kept telling his lady assistant to get off his wire ???

Seriously though even though my son got his season ticket today he was very disappointed not to get his t-shirt and his membership card and sticker. Kids can be very disappointed when let down, he knows we paid for the stuff last May so why his welcome pack wasn't ready who knows. Thanks to the OSC (Mel) he is very happy with his card and badge and he said why can't you look after the shop, now there's a thought?

Does this imply that all we who are in receipt of the Pension Benefits allowed to those in advancing years and
who use the Concessions Turnstiles are 'Decrepit OAP's'??...First of all it's DM who suggests elsewhere, that TM and myself are teetering on the verge of Geriatric Doom ,to which Kitch ( That rhymes as well!!)..you are adding your flippant Anti-Septuagenarian sentiments !.

sorry, Yonmon, didn't mean to cause offence, thought my comments would have been taken in the spirit intended!!

Despite my lack of 'smileys' maybe the numerous !!!! would give a clue!!!

After all, I'm not that far from being a 'septuagenarian'!!!

Had to re-read your post to see how to spell that last word!!!

Well I left it a couple of weeks, surely plenty of time to get something sorted, and tried to contact the club for some idea when my son could hope to receive what we paid for last May. Cheers to Rob Heys, Lee and the Commercial Manager for the lack of response my son is fed up now, maybe a refund is in order, I thought we where trying to encourage our young supporters?

There's also suppose to be a draw for being the mascot, haven't seen that on the fishy site so I guess my lad didn't win. Would you like odds that your sons name isn't in Saturdays programme?

Cheers for the PM but I did it by the book and tried to contact the club direct.:(

Good news, just received a reply from Rob Heys:

Thank you for your email, and apologies that it has taken just over 24 hours to reply.

I trust that your son has received his season ticket, though if you have had a problem with this please get in touch. The t-shirts are currently being printed and should be ready together with the welcome pack in the next week or so, and please pass on our thanks to your son for his patience.
The draws for the mascot packages for the first two home games this season were made by our community team ahead of each match, with subsequent draws to follow.

Should you have any further queries please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards,

Rob

Cheers Rob, that's all it took, a quick e-mail to make the Bagpuss household a little happier:D
