Any suggestions for a new song to run out to for our 40th birthday ????? i have one in mind and would like to see if anyone else picks the same one.

Re: run out song

68 guns is well appropriate and has that 'up and at 'em' type of tune

but......... Accrington Go is a really good tune with cracking bagpipe accompaniment.

available on the DVD any time soon

I know it's from 1965 but (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones seems very apt at the moment.

"Heard it through the Grapevine" was '68 though. ;)

Or maybe Archie Bell and the Drells, "Tighten Up". (Ricky might actually play this. :))

'68, great year for music, and football teams, actually the football team. :alright:

There's a self reinforcing thing about the internet,
Sámiid Ædnan adopted by British football fans | EuroVisionary.com - Eurovision Song Contest 2008, Belgrade

Really like it when the Clayton End do it, obviously everybody is aware of its Sami origins, simple drum accompaniment and political potency. Think Maire Boine (Persen) puts it well here, it's still the devil's music though.

Banning drums, thank goodness we've progressed. ;)

What is the point asking what the fans want?
From what I read on here the club don't actually care what the fans want.

All I ever read on here about the club management is wasted opportunities (exhibition), poor communication (fishy site) and alienation of you fans (late season tickets with yet more no information).

I am amazed that the OSC and club management don't work together on these issues. Is there some bad history between the two or are the management really that poor that they can't see what is going on?

I'm afraid that you are somewhere near the truth Neil!!.
There are so many occurrences which demonstrate a distinct lack of Management understanding at th FES, that all the despair which is so obvious amongst the Fans posting on this forum is quite understandable!!.
This disappointment in those who 'Run' the Club which we all love is sad to see and read about....
It only needs some real concern shown for ALL it's many Fans to redress the situation, and ensure that everyone who has any link whatsoever with Accrington Stanley are pulling in the same direction...towards
SUCCESS !!.

'What me Worry'.....Aye...at times I do that!

Now its really bad, if a non stanley fan is seeing the exact problem....scary:eek:

The OSC do try really hard & will this season again to see what can be done to address these issues with the club, even more a help is voices in numbers by joining & coming to OSC meetings so it cant be ignored by the club.:alright:

Definately Accrington Go, upbeat crowd chat going - do the ultras have the song??? Especially as the exhibition has re-birthed the song & why not finish with a bit of cart on, covered

68 Guns for me is a class song and way better than anything from the year 68 itself, even though i do like Mrs Robinson but thats not that good for a team to run out to, you need something fitting,

And now they're trying to take my life away
Forever young I cannot stay
On every corner, I can see them there
They don't know my name, they don't know my kind
They're after you with their promises
They're after you to sign your life away

Sixty Eight Guns will never die
Sixty Eight Guns our battle cry
Sixty Eight Guns will never die
Sixty Eight Guns our battle cry
Sixty Eight Guns, Sixty Eight Guns

For living in the backstreets that's our home from home

The painted walls are all we've ever known
The Guns Forever, that's our battle cry
It is the flag that we fly so high
For every day they try to drag us down
I cry with anger, I have done no crime

Sixty Eight Guns will never die
Sixty Eight Guns our battle cry
Sixty Eight Guns will never die
Sixty Eight Guns our battle cry
Sixty Eight Guns, Sixty Eight Guns

Sixty-eight Guns has got nothing directly to do with Stanley though. Just because the words fit to some people (a matter of opinion) doesn't mean it should be used.
Accrington Go and On Stanley On are entwined with our heritage. To me it would be disrespectful to use anything else.

68 guns is a really stirring song and could possibly become a great terrace anthem that would be unique to us (68 reds though).

but ......

it really has to be an Accy song of which there a few now so they could be alternated a touch to prevent monotony.

how about a Cart On Stanley On Accrington Go medley?
