Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
The Accrington Stanley Supporters Club, Accrington Stanley FC & East Lancs Camra are hoping to launch the 1st “Accrington Stanley Beer Festival” which is hopefully going to take place on Friday 31st October & Saturday 1st November.
The amalgamation of the Accrington Stanley Supporters Club. Accrington Stanley FC and the East Lancashire Branch of Camra are hoping to have upwards of Twenty Real Ales on Offer mostly from Breweries within a 25-mile radius as well as Scrumpy Cider, Perries and free non-alcoholic drinks for any designated Drivers. With the launch itself being on Halloween we are trying to have a few Halloween/Firework Special Brews on tap, there will also be specially commissioned glasses available to Buy at the Event with the Clubs inscription which in years to come will become Collectors Items in themselves. There will also hopefully be a programme, which will be given away on entry, which will list the Beers, Sponsors and include a local pub crawl to encourage visitors to visit the Local Pubs. The Event it is hoped will help promote Real Ales, The Club itself and the facilities it has to offer as well as being a good social Event that can become part of the Hynburn Calendar, as well as building on the Success of the Current Supporters Club Exhibition “The Club That Wouldn’t Die” at Accrington Library which runs until the 29th August . The Supporters Club are on the lookout for any companies or individuals who would like to help Sponsor the Event either as an Overall Sponsor or just by sponsoring a Barrel of Beer with prices staring at just £70 it is a chance to perhaps advertise your company in a fun way. We really do need your help to bring this idea to fruition:) If anybody is interested please pm me in the first instance |
Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
thats a great idea, beer festivals can be very sucessfull with the right promotion, thats the important factor, this will be a good test fer the new guy i reckon.:);)

Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
more OSC than the 'new guy' Cashy ;)
well done Neil, it's good to see this idea coming through. Just to re-iterate, if anyone has the sway to persuade their company to get involved in a bit of advertising then please back this one. |

Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
The "new guy" was in attendance at the meeting tonight but I have to say this is being done as a supporters club event working alongside the club and is down to Pendle red who has worked really hard getting all the facts and figures together,...
We are hoping for a really successful event which which as Neil has said could become part of the areas well known annual events so please if you want to get involved or want further info regarding sponsorship please get in touch |

Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
I agree Cashy that this is an opportunity for the new guy to show us a bit of what he can do.
The OSC and its members are willing and able to come up with ideas and foot the bill to expand those ideas - but the club has to see the advantages by giving its utmost backing to the events. The exhibition has been great but hasn't been a money earner - though it could have been if the club had been onboard with ideas of how to build from it. |
Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
The Club have been onboard from day one with the idea
As well as the OSC & East Lancs Camra, Both David and Rob have been very supportive in bringing the idea this far In fact David was at the first informal discussion meeting that took place in my favourite Local:D |
Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
With any luck, the club will take notice of the quality of ale on offer at this event and do something about the truely atrocious dregs that were on offer in the sports bar on saturday. Absolutely everything was flat as a pancake and tasted rough.
When this event is a success hopefully the sports bar might be stocking some of the decent stuff!!! Most of all though well done to Pendle Red and everyone involved, for bringing us a truely worthy event. |
Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
I might force myself up to the clubhouse for this one, will I have to force some ale down me neck though? more punishment  :D
|
Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
I could make a high speed dash to pick up a couple of samples, nice idea.
|
Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
Accrington Stanley + Beer =
I wish I could go! that's almost perfect :p |
Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
If you consider having Copper Dragon as one of the local beers (Skipton) then count me in, it`s probably one of the best beers i`ve ever tasted, either Golden Pippin or Scotts 1816.

Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
I went to a beer festival 2 years ago and drank a beer called Accrington Stanley. That must be on the list eh?

Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
Now advertised on fishy site. If this event is a success can we hope that the club will see the benefit of selling decent cask beer in their pub and bar!
|
Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
Does it have to be a local brew?? If not, then you wont go far wrong with Marstons Old Empire - what a beer, WHAT a beer...
Stay away from Giddy Kipper and Sneck Lifter though - yuk! Jimbo T :horn8:blower |
Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
Cards on the table time folks
For this to go on I need your help I need to get at least 15 Beer Barrel Sponsors by Monday 08th September What I am looking at is £70 to sponsor a Barrel for that you will recieve Two free admissions to either the Friday or one of Saturday's Sessions, Two Free Pints of your Sponsored Beer, Two Free Festival Glasses, Laminated Barrel End to either put your name/company logo on the Sponsored Barrel and a mention next to the chosen Beer in the Festival Programme. If you are interested either pm me or contact [email protected] Thank You for Your Interest:) |
Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
Bamber bridge FC have a beer festival every year. Their clubhouse stocks 2 good real ales. I know people who won't go in the crown because of the lack of a decent pint.
|
Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
well it might not happen this year for us unless the offers of sponsorship go through the roof tomorrow

Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
I wasn't expecting 15 ordinary punters to stump up £70 for a Barrel, if that's the way it came across it wasn't meant too. People on here work for companies & people on here own companies hence why I posted it on here as well as it going on the Fishy Site. Also take into account I was trying to get this off the ground without any funding to start with!!
I have contacted over forty Business's in and around Hynburn, Two bit's in the Observer appealing for potential Sponsors as well as contacts I know. Perhaps I could have done more but I have only have so much spare time.:( What I have got now is a good amount of knowledge of how these Event's work, An amazing amount of friendly, helpful & useful contacts within the Local Brewery Trade that I now know I can call upon to help when needed I still think there is mileage in the Idea & Concept of a Beer Festival and if we are not in a position to do it when originally intended there is Next Year, maybe during the Summer when there is not too much going on around the Club as a way of bringing in some funds when needed? Watch this Space!:) Thanks to everyone who has showed an interest:) |
Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
Thats a shame that it might not take place, but maybe next year i`ll be able to include my homebrew, The Mutz Nutz, or i could even do a special Accy Stanley brew for the event and call it Coley`s Kilt :D.

The Accyweb Sponsored Barrel idea is a very good one Wynonie! one that we can follow up next year Thanks for that:) We will look at putting the Festival back on during the Close Season next Year, It gives us more time to widen the net for potential Sponsors and pursue other avenues to raise funding to get it off the Ground. There are still things that I would like to look at that can give a spin off benefit for the Supporters & Club alike and I will try to bring those to fruition. Once again Thank You to Everyone for their interest:) |
Re: Accrington Stanley Beer Festival
Sounds good, Google Page Ranking, and it'll give us something to look forward on one of those long, boring weekends in the close season! Count me in for an Accyweb-sponsored barrel! :)
