When saturday comes...

Rumours around here, are that Tranmere fans will opt to join the home fans in the covered section of your ground. Hopefully not though.

If the weather is abit bleak, they are going to join you lot in the stands with cover.

With the amount expected to follow, this might be not be a good idea.

They should of made this tie all ticket for away fans.

we've got it coverd [quote]part of our commitment to ensuring that the match days at the Fraser Eagle Stadium are a safe and enjoyable experience for all we also have a new service to enable supporters to text concerns over any unacceptable behaviour directly to our safety control room in the stadium. This means supporters can anonymously and discreetly pass information directly to our Safety Officer in the Control Room who can then ensure that a team of stewards deal with the issue.

They can do that if they like.

They'll stick out like a sore thumb though, as you tend to see the same faces on at Stanley, I don't think they will be able to blend in with there Shell Suits and Mickey Mouser Accents????

We should give em a 90minute redition of 'You'll never walk alone,' like the lads sung at Prenton Park earlier in the season.

Something Like this maybe????

"Sign on, sign on
With a giro in your pocket
And you'll never work again
You'll never work again."

I actually come from Aigburth, which is in Liverpool. You know that capital of culture place? The place where the MTV European awards and sports personality of the year awards are being held this year. The place where half your team comes from. :p

Just thought that I'd attempt to inject a little sanity into the gradually decreasing quality threatening any longevity that this thread might hope to harbour !.
Now, it is true to say that Alfred.E. usually enjoys the company of the usually perspicacious and socially-acceptable denizens of Aigburth. But on this occasion avers that he is somewhat surprised that the visitor to our Forum from this suburb of that great City of Liverpool has allowed a perfectly acceptable opening posting to disintegrate into a not-so-clever, grammatically abysmal, and, quite frankly, yawn-producing exchange of useless protestations with the generally friendly and welcoming fellows and lassies who inhabit our Forum.
Perhaps, as I often do, I am mistaking his feeble bleatings for an honest attempt at making a little friendly banter with us all....If this is the case then his sad critique of the mode of spelling and the expressing of many of the words from the English language employed by 'our' Grimps' would not confirm my thinking !.
As I find myself being in total agreement with my alter-ego,
I would suggest to him that if he has nothing else of interest to tell us about the Team which he supports, and their hopes for he game at the FES on Saturday, then he might disappear and find another Forum to infest with his ineloquent attempts at entertaining badinage !!.
Assuring this man/ woman ( It is impossible to assess the exact gender from his/her postings!..... Alfred.E suggests that much of what he says could have emitted from the mouth of an 'old woman' )..of a warm welcome to our small but visitor-friendly Stadium !.........Sayonara !!

Re: When saturday comes...

I go back a long way with Tranmere. I have never seen them do anything but win.

I remember 1976/7 season at Prenton Park when they beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0. Then 17, I was told to meet up with someone who looked like a well known cartoon character and I found the right person on the terrace straight off!

Just before 1979 election I witnessed Tranmere win 2-1 at Hillsborough where they tend to thrive - Russ Allen got one and John Thomas also scored. They won there on their last visit in 2005 and would have stuffed Sheffield Wednesday's play off chances if they hadn't won at Hull in their last away match.

Bit later I couldn't resist seeing Portsmouth go to Prenton Park for a Friday night league (!) game. The massive Portsmouth following had to be seen to be believed.

There's a certain overfamiliarity with that area of L'pool, Wyn.

....... and afterwards possibly a stroll along Otterspool promenade, as the sun glistens on the turds as they bob along on the Mersey, it fair takes me back. ;)

I've come to know Liverpool and the Wirral quite well over the last 20 years, Oggy, because everytime one of Mrs H's friends or relatives comes over from Peru, the first place they want to see is the city where "Los Beatles" come from. As I've no interest in this particular beat combo, I just leave them to wander round the Beatles museum, Matthew St etc, while I have a mooch round various parts of the area ranging from Fort Perch Rock to the Philharmonic (especially the Philharmonic!;))...and, although some may disagree with me, I really like the place and its inhabitants!

All very well, Yonmon, but has Alfred managed to talk you into taking him to the Oak Lea for pre-match refreshments with Cashy and myself, plus the usual suspects!

Barring some kind of Terrestrial Calamity, Domestic delays, or Divine Intervention ......as The Rembrandts remind us Wyn.....in their particlarly endearing style of
gentle 'Rock'.......

I'll be there for you ...Like I've been there before'.

Would love to, mate, but sadly domestic commitments prevent me. However, thanks for the invite and will say "ow do" in the Oaklea later.

Yonmon and Alfred, see you later!

See you saturday.

You really did take over our "village"! I couldnt move tbh, the "village" seemed so crowded full of you lot. Every corner i turned i saw a luton fan. Was extremely scared so nipped into the Castle for a pint. However while i was in the castle , i was talking to some great tranmere fans and were telling me about how they should have gornell back and how he should be starting for them! Very nice people indeed , totally different to the impression you got from people coming on the message board and shouting the odds about!

Bumped into a crowd of Tranmere fans walking down Whalley Road. They turned out to be top notch chaps and I had a good chat and a laugh with 'em and, yep, they sure as hell want Gornall back!
