Re: Youth Cup
"Youth team were lucky!!"
Goes to prove a point different people see a different game.( I watched most of the game, but missed odds and ends due to being on Stadium duties.) Stanley 1-0 up, against 10 men in the 1st half (Wakefield had a man sent off for a terrible tackle after about 25 minutes) Even Carlisle Utd youth team manager said he would leave when the 2nd goal went in. Wakefield had a good spell 2nd half and scored a well worked equiliser, although Stanley had hit the bar beore that. Although we we expected the tie to go to extra time, one Stanley scored their 2nd, Wakefield had no reply and a 3rd goal was scored just before the final whistle. Yes Wakefield played with confidence, this team has won a good number of games and has scored a shed load of goals. Stanley's youth team (and indeed the set up) is in its infancy. Wednesday's win was their 1st this year, so naturally our boys are low in confidence. Hopefully they can build on this in forthcoming matches. Next round of the Youth Cup home to Carlisle and if they win that, they will be home to Stockport or Crewe. |

Is it likely you could be hosting 2 3rd round ties ? Bet none of us would mind the likely attendance at one of the 3rd matches, Man Utd v Chelsea should get a few in. |
Re: Youth Cup
I watched the youth team play carlisle a couple of months ago at darwen FC Pice here >>> Accy u18 v Carlisle u18
Stanley lost 0-2 but there wasnt really that much in it... A win or two and it will snowball I am sure:) |
Re: Youth Cup
Carlisle knocked Man Utd out of last seasons competition. They usually have a good youth set up but as well as being more established they also have the advantage of less competition within travelling distance up there to attract the young lads.
Stanley's youth team appear to be getting stronger each year from what I've seen of the results, and with a large of amount of clubs round Lancashire that says a lot for the youth coaching staff. :) |
