Re: Stuart Hall
Missed it again and yes before you say anything I know I'm not into football but really enjoyed watching the first few. Why did they change the day and time but more importantly why did you lot not remind us?

Re: Stuart Hall
At first I thought it added some gravitas to the programme, having Stuart Hall doing the voice over, but have decided tonight that he made it worse, and agree his attempt at an Accy accent was dire.
Stick to the new advertising work you've got Stuart, now Dame Thora Hird has passed over to the otherside. |
Re: Stuart Hall
Many moons ago when my lad was in early teens I met Stuart Hall at a televised skateboarding contest.
I wasn't impressed. He seemed rather egocentric and gave the impression that he was in a constant state of 'self monitoring' to judge what impression he was making - that sounds double dutch I know, but can't think of any other way to describe it. That 'unrelaxed' quality does not make a good interviewer - he is more concerned about himself than listening to what the person he interviews is saying. |

"This is all nonsense, people are getting hot under the collar about nothing," he said. "Your average 10-year-old can instruct you in oral or anal sex." Following the reference to anal sex, one of Hall's fellow panellists could be heard saying, "Welcome to the last ever Fighting Talk".

Re: Stuart Hall
Can anyone remember the link between Stuart Hall and Accrington Stanley? It was a commercial venture in the very early 90s I think.

Re: Stuart Hall

presenter's task !.. This would be why he was given the job !. Secondly, any performer is only as good as the material which his or her writer(s) provide for them. It is not surprising then that in many of the 'scenes' where Eric, Mick, and Rob et al were not involved in the fascinating dialogue on screen, Stuart's flowery and 'homely' description of the action did tend to grate a bit on the senses !. The Writer attempting to match Stuarts' 'delivery' ! I know that Stuart Hall is a committed and hard-working Broadcaster, and always gives of his best to whatever programme he is involved with. But, like other performers he has created for himself a style to which he feels he has to conform, an 'Image' to maintain, and thus is bound to have his detractors !. That you don't seem to care for this style matches my feelings towards Bruce Forsyth, amongst others. But isn't this what all branches of the performing arts engenders in us all ?. A personal appreciation or rejection of the Actors, Singers, Dancers, AND documentary presenters who parade before us,' doing their thing'. |

Re: Stuart Hall
I have liked Stuart Hall since I first came across him over 40 years ago. He was on Crystal Palace's books as a young prospective footballer I recall.
He introduced us to legends such as Fred Dibnah "more scared about backing my land rover out of that car park" he said on his first appearance and Ray Rush. May be Eric is his next media star. |

lol ..... I had a similar thought this morning that maybe an astute filmographer could make Eric into something of a media star. The language would need removing but he does have a dead pan style of humour that would go really well on the right kind of platform |

Never liked Stuart 'Hypo' Hall
