looking good two in. as any gone to over clubs

Re: Striker Signs

Always rated Gregg Blundell as a Donny player. He left to live full time in the North West so I was a bit surprised when he left Chester to rejoin Dave Penny at Darlo.

He has always seemed to do well against us both at Chester where I seem to recall him coming on and getting their second goal in 2006 and at Darlo.

If Craig Mahon is as good a footballer as his brother he will be a great signing. Wigan seem to have a good academy. Wonder if there is scope for getting more players loaned out from them.

........and yes Gregg's accent is definitely Merseyside.

Re: Striker Signs

Wigan appears to be good hunting ground for JC and JB, remember this is where the mighty Phil Edwards came from, also Keiran Charnock used to play there as well. Greg Mahon will be a useful addition to the squad. Also the signing of Greg Blundell seems promising. Things are definitely on the up for Saturday. Good Luck to both players.
The futures bright, the future is Stanley.

Re: Striker Signs

Blundell was a revelation when he played for Chester, but he picked up a nasty injury and was never the same player again. He's struggled to get a start at Darlington, but maybe if he's got something to prove he'll be up for the challenge at Stanley.

Re: Striker Signs

Two great signings!
Here's what my Donny supporting friend says about Greg.
"
Greg is a good signing for you and I’m quite surprised Darlo have let him go. His best goal-scoring days were in our first season back in the league, but I’m sure he can do a job for you. He’s got pace and he works hard. He probably needs quite a lot of chances in order to hit the mark but he does get into the right areas.
He’s still a legend with our fans!

Sounds like Gregg will be welcoming his chance:

Darlington - Stanley swoop to sign Blundell on loan

Re: Striker Signs

Letting players like Blundell and Proudlock leave the club on loan is a bit of a gamble though as Quakers currently have no fit senior strikers at the club who are contracted to Darlington
So if he does well for us and finds his form..... they will recall him. if he doesn't do well then erk

You can't build a side on loan players coming in for a month at a time :(

We sold enough players.. isnt it time we bought a striker?

Eh? has any club? We sold players but we havent bought.. You cant say we need the money to run the club or we would have to sell a couple every season and that doesnt happen.. you dont set out your stall for the year hoping for cup runs or players to be sold in order to survive and indeed stanley has said they dont..

Stanley have also said they dont owe any money anywhere and are in a good finanical position to survive.. the problem was more money needed to push on..

sod pushing on.. we dont even own a full team to stay still..

if you didnt understand my post then repeating it wont make it any better.. maybe laying it out ?:)

1.. club says finanical postion good to stay where we are

2... club says we need more money if we are to push onto another division.

3... we dont own a full team and relying on loans. thus not in a great position to push on

Gerrit now? I never said we are doing badly.. never even hinted at it...

Hope thats more clear ? :) :) :)

Re: Striker Signs

i agree with you k-p we have signed all out players this seasons on free's costing us nothing but wages! we have loan players so not paying for them maybe a % of there wages! we got money from craney, roberts, tv replay! surely we should be able to sum up 50k for a player like gornell or someone

K-P 29-11-2008 12:37

Re: Striker Signs

Whats the future if we cant is my worry? next season we wont have the players to sell and may not have any tv money.. theres no stability with loan players as good as they are. Just as the manager gets it right and things are looking good... POP! there goes a loan player back to his club.

OK we are sitting pretty at the moment.. but I have my looking ahead hat on at the moment :)

Sounds correct on his performance today! The first 10 mins he had pace to burn past the chester defenders and he got in goal and knocked it right over! Should of at least hit the target. Worked hard though!

Re: Striker Signs

Sorry got to say can not agree! Skied his first chance (nerves possibly) but spent his time on the pitch wandering around just about keeping up with play and pointing to where the ball should have gone! Hope I am to be proved wrong but not a Gornell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:(:(:(

Why do people keep going back to gornell. Yes it was a great find! And hes an absolute brilliant player , however for the time being he is back at Tranmere and we have to move on!!

For all you coleman haters , Gornell was a great find by this genious :)

Must be a bad habit he has got, scored against our reserves again today, probably twice as pleasing for him is that his uncle is in the opposing team :D

Sounds like a good game, 3-2 to Burnley after half an hour, might end up 10-10 yet :D
