Hi KP,i heard the rumour that kenny was injured in the first half but that the club doctor had said he was fit to carry on.If thats the case then the club doctor is at fault for letting him carry on,why was he not substituted at half time.I'm not saying it would have changed the result but ?,i for one wish kenny a speedy recovery,he's a great character and i hope he's back between the sticks soon.

Was rushing but I must add.. it was by email I spoke to him.. so he is well enough to be online in some way or another :) But he is bleeding and they wont let him out until it stops.. which again.. probably sounds worse than it is. although i wouldnt fancy being in that condition this close to crimbo :(

I've had a couple of messages off kenny this afternoon and he's hoping they'll let him out of the hospital in lincoln tommorow. Right now he's just bored stiff so I directed him onto here to have a look at this thread.

Get your messages in people he needs plenty of reading material!!!!

Spoke to Schultzy a few minutes after Kenny was put in an ambulance and told me what was wrong but he asked me not to post anything on here but I suppose its now ok to. Just to clear up something posted earlier, it was Kenny's decision to play on, not the club doctors. You know how stubborn these footballers are - if their leg isnt dropping off they want to carry on :)

All the best King Kenny - get well soon

Re: Kenny Arthur in Hospital

Just to clear things up here.. the club doctor resposible for ADVISING the visiting team's at away game's is the Doctor provided by the HOME Team. This is common practise at Football League level. Our club Doctor Dr Joyce Watson was not at the game but is in constant dialougue With Kenny.

We all wish Kenny a speedy recovery.

Re: Kenny Arthur in Hospital

I am with you all the way on that K - P!! Why was he advised / allowed to play on?? I know some of the players are warriors(He being one of them!) but sometimes common sense must come into it:confused:

Did it have an effect on his game? Looking at the goals on T.V. (as I was not one of the 58) It looked to me that it did, I think most of us have seen Kenny much more reactive than he was in the last 30 mins on Friday night.

shakermaker 18-12-2008 09:06

Re: Kenny Arthur in Hospital

The decision was his to play on.
I do think however that the doctor should have over ruled his decision, passing blood isn't exactly a slight bump on the noggin. Hard working footballers such as Ken obviously want to keep on playing until they have no limbs remaining (Holy Grail sketch!) but surely it's the responsibility of doctors, coaches and management to look after their players before allowing such displays of courage.

Bear in mind the home team doctor takes responsibility for both teams in 99% of times. To my knowledge visiting teams have brought their medic 3 times to the FES in the last 5 years. Our doc has travelled to Colchester, Bury and Morecambe in the last 5 years.

The only decision in FA rules that that any Club Doc can rule on his a head injury.

Don't think any away manager would be mighty pleased to be told his goalkeeper/ or indeed any player can't play in the 2nd half!!

The last issue we had at the FES was Worksop in the FA Trophy when our doc advised a Worksop player should not continue in the 2nd half. Ronnie Glavin (their manager) was less than impressed and the advice was totally ignored!!

I'm sure the Lincoln doc gave our staff advice, but the final decision for Kenny to continue would have been made in the away dressing room.

shakermaker 18-12-2008 14:25

Re: Kenny Arthur in Hospital

I doubt anyone from our management would react in such a way knowing Kennys symptoms were so serious.

Absolutely shocking decision to allow him to play on. I had this once and it felt like barbed wire being pulled through the tubes.:(

Re: Kenny Arthur in Hospital

You don't often find that in today's day and age though. A different era back then, non of this prima donna rubbish and remember no substitutes were aloud.

Gerry Byrne also played an F.A. Cup final with a broken collarbone which he received in the 3rd minute.

Legends all 3 of them.
