Grimsby linked to Fowler

Read last week that Grimsby were interested in Robbie Fowler..Would anyone like to see him here.? A bit of Scouse company for Coley..Seems Matt Jansen is being given a trial at Rovers with the option to return to Carlisle if it doesnt work out..He's a face I would like to see here also..

Well if Bacup can go for Andy Cole then.....

From the Bacup website
Quote:

Press Release
Tuesday 17th December 2008
Bacup Borough Football Club Manager Brent Peters released the following statement.

Brent Peters Said “ In an effort to sign Andy Cole for Bacup Borough Football Club, I went down all the right lines of enquiry, I spoke at length to Andy Coles advisers but was ultimately told by Mr Ian Battersby of the Formation Group plc that whilst Andy was flattered by Bacup Borough’s offer and interest, however Andy has decided that he has no desire what so ever to put his football boots back on for anyone at this present time.

I was told that Andy’s decision to leave Nottingham Forrest was because he wanted a change of direction in his life.

From my own point of view I strive for the best always for the football club I manage, I am a great believer in having a go.

This was not a cheap gimmick for Bacup Borough Football Club to seek publicity, people would never have believed that Treble Winner David May would have come to the Brian Boys Stadium, had I have listened to people that ridiculed the idea when I first muted David May joining Bacup Borough, nothing would ever have happened, well the same principles applied in my pursuit of Andy Cole, sometimes approaches do come off, in this instance the approach for Andy Cole as not come off, however this set back will certainly not deter me from similar approaches to high profile players in the near future “

Stranger things have happened. Garforth Town in the Unibond are on the verge of signing Brazillian World Cup winner, Cafu, who is without a club after his release by AC Milan. And four years ago they had Socrates and Careca playing for them.
