LDV Vans Trophy - We're in it

It's official - next season's conference entrants will be the top ten clubs, plus York and Carlisle.

Re: LDV Vans Trophy - We're in it

End of season I was all for top ten to get in LDV and the club certainly wanted it.. Coley and Jimmy wanted it... But... there is the opinion that less cup games leaves you stronger and fitter to attack the league.

Some days I love the idea of long cup runs.. the excitemnt, extra games.. beating the big boys and of course the LDV is a real chance of playing at the millenium stadium in the final.. Unlike the FA Cup theres a real chance of winning the LDV

But some days i worry it knackers us up for end of season run in...

What does everyone think?

Re: LDV Vans Trophy - We're in it

Think we can win them both!......We should have won the league by January anyway......

Re: LDV Vans Trophy - We're in it

we have shown we can beat teams in div 2 so like blackpool who won it this season

i think thats we john and jimmy are making the team bigger and stronger

i would like to say we have won the league by january but i would be satisfied with play-offs

Re: LDV Vans Trophy - We're in it

we dint actually beat colchester,, or u counting huddersfield after promotion?

i wouldnt have a cup run at the expense of a play off place, although its good, just not worth it.

Re: LDV Vans Trophy - We're in it

playoffs are miles more important

Re: LDV Vans Trophy - We're in it

:rose8: But if we are full time next season it should eliminate the tiredness at the end plus a good cup run can boost confidence and team bonding which would transfer to the league games.

Re: LDV Vans Trophy - We're in it

Must agree with Bazf I think full time will help cope with cup run's and league games

P.S. anyone know a good cheap B+B in Cardiff :) ;) :)

Accy Stan Fan

Maybe he meant Bournemouth as the Div 2 team. We beat them - I know, Broadhurst penalty landed in my Grannies back yard on Lower Barnes Street

Yadda Yadda

Just a quick dampener on this subject, LDV will NOT be sponsoring this competition next season, so there is a possibility that it may not be played at all, however, the Conference are resurrecting the Bob Lord Trophy??? Lets not all get on the bandwagon of great cup runs against league opposition just yet, Wait unitl it is official.
P.S. information is on confguide.com I think. read it tonight, BUMMER!!!

Re: LDV Vans Trophy - We're in it

Although the LDV sponsor issue is to sorted my understanding is that the Conference Cup will be played as well as the LDV? Bring it on the more games the merrier for me. It's gonna be a greta season.

Anyoner wish we where back in the Unibond?

Re: LDV Vans Trophy - We're in it

Confguide is reporting that Gravesend and Northfleet who finished 11th last season, just beind Stanley, haven't been accepted into next season's LDV Trophy. Instead, their place has gone to Scarborough who finished 15th. According to Fleet's website it's because their ground has insufficient capacity. Surprisingly, Burton who finished 14th miss out as well; presumably their ground isn't big enough either.
