Re: Charnock

thats good least we got another defender he has been very solid at the back, he plays well with edwards, just hope we can get an striker, but on another hand it will be good to play smith so he can prove that he should be i the squad

Re: Charnock

Smith hasn't stood out at Clitheroe, so I can't see him featuring in a L2 side, can you? Really?

LOL.... even Amazon is more up to date with Stanley news than the official site.

I like the bit on the Telegraph site where it says that Posh have announced the deal, but Stanley are yet to do so.

Re: Charnock

well they would'nt do that would they, still reading about the grimsby game on there,
anyway Morecombe have a transfer embargo on then has their wage bill is to high

Tin Monkey 02-01-2009 15:50

Re: Charnock

I wonder if they'll have a party tomorrow when it's one week since the last update? :D

I also wonder if the Morecambe embargo will impact on Carlton's return to Crusty Pie?

Re: Charnock

did I not read somewhere that Charnock was only under contract at Posh until the end of the season - hence our reluctance to pay a fee?

In that case we have got him for nowt (poss loan fee?) and Posh are hoping that somebody will come in with a better cash offer between now and the end of January.

I think

Re: Charnock

hes worth the money though aint he! and if someone does come in and take him off our hands than what the hell we going to do! leam still out, rockey still out, cav just coming back in, will be left with murdock bell and murphy so why dont we just pay 50k and than we will know he is ours unless he wants more money!

We clearly haven't got 50k.
We've got Charnock until the end of the season, then we have to try to sign him. He can't move to another club while he's here on loan. Can he?

Surely he has to be recalled before sold and from this it seems he can't be recalled:

Standard Loans: a Standard Loan (long term loan) must be the time between two Registration Periods, and can be for half a Season or a full Season. Any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Transfer Window.

He signed a 3 yr contract in 2007

Charnock reveals Accrington Stanley target (From Lancashire Telegraph)

looks like we did offer money for him but in the end just opted for a loan move! makes you wounder if he does want to sign for us full time

Would say yet again that we just could not afford to pay his wages, so he thought he may as well stand out at Stanley and then get a decent move, rather than try to get himself a move in Jan, when - other than the odd Tevez - you do not often get a good deal.

Fair play to him. He's got eighteen months left on a contract from a League One side and he'll hope that he can impress the Posh people with his performances here before thinking of moving down a league.

Seems we had the resources after all! When I suggested in another thread (the seats, the facts) that the new plans for seating would enable the club to divert money to strengthening the team in January, I was accused of 'wishful thinking' by a certain nut on this forum. We all get sucked in by the constant theme of a club with no money and all that. It's Eric's plan. Fair play to them tho, this proves that when they see a player that'll improve the team, they will try to find the ways and means to get him if it's possible

It doesn't mean that we offered the asking price for him. We have been known to offer way below the asking price for players before, and been laughed at for doing so.

Reamer 07-01-2009 10:49

Re: Charnock

We've no way of knowing how much or little they were planning to offer because it hasn't been made public, but it doesn't alter the fact that the club were looking at ways to do a deal in spite of what the doom mongers say

Thats a bit more like it Reamer, some positive thinking. Lets all take some of that into Saturdays match against Darlo!!!
