Just so as we don't have 2 threads :D.. I'll be at work and to be honest, wouldn't it be great if the other regular contributers to match day threads were at the game instead of here..?? ..looking forward to all the 'match' reports on here when I get home-they are a good read.:)

New lad starts on the bench. We're all over them according to Leylandii, who's there. Nearly a 2 min disaster - short back pass almost stranded Kenny. 2 good saves by their keeper inside 10 minutes. we appear to be shooting on sight (for a change ........)

Brought Leam on for Turner but Lindfield still on the bench. Message I just got is they just scrambled a goalmouth clearance and "How it's only 1 - 0 goodness knows".

Sounds hopeful. Would still have preferred Lindfield for Turner ...............

Awesome display by Stanley tonight. If Coley can keep dragging performances like that out of the lads he really will be the "football genius".
Jimmy Ryan was immense and will have the big clubs sniffing around if he keeps up this kind of form, I'm very much afraid.

As good a performance as I've seen from Stanley for quite a while. Should have been more than 1-0.

Well done lads!

Excellent performance tonight. Ten times better than against Barnet. All the team looked to be up for this game right from the start. Only one team in it in the first half. unfortunately they couldn't turn their supremacy into goals. Should have been three up at HT. Ryan was superb, Turner keeps impressing, Mullers was back on his game and defence deserves a mention for clean sheet. All in all a very satisfactory and POSITIVE performance

aint it amazing what a win can do :)

the whole team played well from keeper to striker everyone looked up for the game! jimmy ryan keeps putting in these quailty games in the centre of midfield great goal he could of scored one of them in the first half aswell just the keeperr got a hand to it! if he keeps putting in performences like this than he wont be here in the summer, same could be said for turner aswell he is playing very well not scared to run at the opposition and get some crosses in! miles played alot better than saturday! we should of won more than 1-0 their keeper kept them in it in first half! with some good saves! lets hope we can play like this every home game! good to see leam back, the defence played very well one or two nervous moments but apart from that kenny had a quiet game! very loud from the clayton end aswell not just the ultras the whole of the clayton end!

Accrington Stanley FC 1Morecambe 0
27 Jan 2009

Jimmy Ryan's strike gave Accrington only their second win in 10 league outings as they beat Morecambe 1-0.

The midfielder blasted a 25-yard strike into the bottom corner of the net after 57 minutes and finally beat Shrimps keeper Barry Roche, who had been the star of the show up until that point.
He kept out an early Paul Mullin shot and twice denied Ryan in the first half, pushing over his 25-yard strike and then keeping out his 20-yard free kick.
However, Stanley got what they deserved when ex-Shrewsbury midfielder Ryan celebrated his sixth goal of the season with a fierce strike.
Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy used all three substitutes but his mid-table side offered little and rarely threatened Kenny Arthur's goal.

A good night to be on the clayton end i've not seen as many as there was on there last night for a while, crowd stated as 1,407,personally i thought there were quite a few more than that.On the whole a good display from accy although they let it slip a bit in the second half, morecambe were very poor and on accy's 1st half performance alone they should have gone in at half time leading by at least 3 or 4 nil, hence the need for a decent striker who can put away the chances like the ones created last night.Having said that their keeper did pull off 2 or 3 good saves, cracking strike by jimmy ryan and a worthy match winner.

I'd agree with most of your post Mab, Chris Turner & Jimmy Ryan were brilliant but John Miles??? - a good solid team performance carried him through & at times he did have flashes of inspiration but he is too inconsistent and at times wandered round the pitch looking like a child who has got lost in Asda . Was good to see Leam back on the pitch after too long an absence but I did wonder why Chris Turner was taken off to make room for him. All in all though a bloody good night & felt good to have taken 4 points of our seaside friends this season :D

Couldn't let the occasion pass without a word of praise for your lot last night.

We were dreadful, let's get that straight, but we've been dreadful on other occasions this season and not been given the run-around like your lads gave us.

I missed our drubbing at Gillingham but, evidently, we bossed that game until their first goal and then collapsed.

Bit like last night really when we totally dominated the first 37 seconds and then were second best all over the park for the other 90-odd minutes.

Interesting formation you used with an attacking four playing behind Mullin. As they lined up I expected you to be pumping it forward to him and picking up the pieces so it came as a surprise to see you playing it along the deck, quickly and neatly and running so well off the ball.

We were excellent against a decent side on Saturday and named an unchanged side last night so - however crap we played last night - it still was a very, very good display by you.

You cannot possibly play like that every week and neither can we (I hope) but, again, well done and good luck.

Sammy has done well with us and I'm confident he'll get our lads back on their game.

We've had our rivalries but they've always been good-natured and we wish you well.

Good luck.

on last nights showing a striker is not what we need, it is to stop the goalie from playing a blinder. made 5 or 6 first half saves, which in any other game would have resulted in us scoring at least 3
