Re: Sean mcconville signs
Good news - I like these deals for rising young stars (whatever Alan Hanson says). Well done, the club!

Re: Sean mcconville signs

Re: Sean mcconville signs
Well done Coley!
More from similar sources please. Skem were my non league team till I noticed a certain Accrington Stanley (1968) playing in the same league. |
Re: Sean mcconville signs
McConville is a proven goalscorer in the lower leagues, hopefully he's the striker we've been needing to put away all the bloody chances we keep missing every week.He must have a good future when you think of the clubs in higher divisions who were looking him over, good luck to the lad.
ACCY THROUGH AND THROUGH......:):):):):):):):):):):mosher: |
Re: Sean mcconville signs
yeh but the thing is now who do you take out of the squad to put him in! turner? lindfield? kallum?

Re: Sean mcconville signs
I reckon this is a superb signing by Eric and Coley! it's a statement of ambition by the club and we have succeeded where, presumably, higher clubs have failed. My guess would be that higher clubs were unwilling to take a punt on such a lower league player but will continue to monitor his progress for a year or two.
I would guess that he will flit in and out of the side certainly this year (like Shaun Whalley did) but Coley will be looking for him to secure a place in the side next season. Downside? I reckon we will have had a large sell-on fee put in at Skem's request. But if you consider the talk was of £500k for Will Buckley at Rochdale then here's hoping for a similar fee for this lad next season! Good luck Macca! |
Re: Sean mcconville signs
disagree to a point macca, many bigger clubs will take a punt if they think a goalscorers up to it, a breed as rare as rocking horse droppings, my guess is mr colemans snapped up a good winger/striker at this level n deserves credit. am looking forward to seeing the guy if played on sat.:)

Re: Sean mcconville signs
he's a punt for us in reality. He has done well for Skem but there is the Unibond Prem, Conf North and Conference between his current level and what he will now be expected to play at. If a Championship side was looking at him then the gulf would be enormous and he is still only 19 year old. Alright, they could have afforded the money more than us but it would still be a big gamble for a bigger club.
Remember when we signed Shaun Whalley? he was the next big thing and he came from a similar level club (Witton Albion). Shaun showed glimpses of promise but when the performances didn't come and the crowd got at him a bit he went hiding. That would have been ten times worse at most clubs in our league - let alone higher. |

Re: Sean mcconville signs
Every now and then a player with ability to bridge the gulf between non-league and full league football has to start somewhere,he chose accy the reasons why i know not.But if he bridges that gap then he will be a profitable addition to our squad, and god knows we need a striker to bag some goals.I for one wish him well and look forward to seeing him play and hopefully scoring alot of goals.

Re: Sean mcconville signs
If he gets the goals that get us three points does it really matter who gets dropped,we'll just have to wait and see what coley decides.
|
Re: Sean mcconville signs
I reckon he's to be the understudy to Paul Mullin-the Prince In Waiting if you like.
Welcome to the legend that is STANLEY young man. |

because he is Jimmy Bells nephew? source - todays LET .... and apparently we had him a few years ago but let him go because we didn't have a youth side at the time. |
Re: Sean mcconville signs
Very excited about this addition, feeling the most positive since the aquisition of Prendergast.
|
Re: Sean mcconville signs
I would think that we will play Mullers plus Lindfield - and use McConville off the bench (or vice - versa) and maybe use a combination of Turner/Higginbotham down the right! The main thing MCR, now we have options, plus cover!!!! The futures bright - The futures at The F.E.S.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Re: Sean mcconville signs
he is a winger though aint he! not a striker and yeh the future does look alot brighter now! positive message board aswell!
|
Re: Sean mcconville signs
Sorry MCR:o thought he was a striker, hence his 15 goals in 30 matches.
But never the less I think he will play up front with as you call him (I think) The Legend that is Paul Mullin:D:D |
Re: Sean mcconville signs
Skem Chairman in today's Ormskirk Advertiser saying that close to the deadline they facilitated Sean's wish to play in Football League but the final deal was not what he'd wanted.
|
Re: Sean mcconville signs
Bell's column in today's LT says that they decided to go in for him now otherwise they could have lost him. Seems like there were others takin an interest
|
Re: Sean mcconville signs
stockport co plymouth just to that were on sky sports + use and southport was said but did not thing so

Deal was not ideal - Skelmersdale Advertiser |
Re: Sean mcconville signs
He doesn't seem too happy with the deal, does he? I wonder if it's just sour grapes because they didn't get the price they wanted?
One thing though - isn't it great to be described as a "big club"? I suppose it's all relative... |
Re: Sean mcconville signs
35% sell on? that's not terrible, I thought we might have had to relinquish 50% as with Ian Craney.
|
Re: Sean mcconville signs
Good dealings by Eric once again. I wouldn't like him to come to my shop.
|
Re: Sean mcconville signs
Stanley to play Skem in friendly.
Accrington Stanley agree Skelmersdale friendly (From Blackburn Citizen) |
Re: Sean mcconville signs
he's meant to have real potential.

Re: Sean mcconville signs
just checkin your site seee if Sean McConville got a game last night, seems you lot think hes a striker !! Hes an out n out winger who pops up with his fair share of goals Hes quite quick with a few tricks up his sleeve
but dont expect him to be getting stuck in, which wingers do He should do alright for Stanley, bring him on slowly, hes not the finnished article and maybe you will see the best of him come start of next season cheers to you all and good luck to Accy |
Re: Sean mcconville signs
No , he didn't play last night. He was on the bench, I think
