They've only gone and doubled it. 2-0 now.

Two clean sheets. Does another at Shots mean Coley gets to wear his kilt?

Re: Game thread against Luton

I am sick to the back teeth of gutless, tactically inept performances. I don't even blame the players for this. The buck stops with the management. Throughout the game I noticed time and time again our players looking toward the dug-out for guidance, alas none came.
Before the game I was chomping at the bit to buy my cut price season ticket for next year; after the game I couldn't wish to be further away from it all.
When did my team get castrated?!

I was going to calm down and review the situation tomorrow morning but **** it. Let's vent.

McConville just isn't up to league football. Stick him in the reserves and stuff him with pies until he can stay on his feet.
Why sign Craig Lindfield? We've got a problem with scoring goals so we sign a player who just doesn't score. Right, brill. It's all very well giving his all for 90 minutes but it's no use when he's just plain rubbish.
This continuous long ball game doesn't work! How blind can the manager be? Kenny hoofs the ball... defender heads the ball... opposition attack with the ball... thank goodness Luton are rubbish because the ball's ended up back with Kenny - and so the cycle begins once again!
Sack John bloody Miles.
Play Jimmy Ryan on the right where he actually does his thing. He's wasted in the centre of the park. Kissock can create from the middle - USE HIM!

We all know we haven't got the resources of most of the other teams in this league, but when we're wasting the resources we do have then you get the performance we saw tonight - AN EMBARASSMENT.

Well done to Jay Bell, Chris Turner and Captain Marvel for giving us a little bit of spark and hope.

That was the dullest 90 minutes I`ve seen in a long while. Why not practise shooting at the goal instead of practising ropey corner tactics. If Coleys still wondering why the crowds are low, watch a rerun of that match. £ 13 for that, I feel i`ve been robbed!

Our corner routine now seems to consist of hitting 'em at a comfortable height for the first defender to head away. I can't begin to count how many we have wasted like this in the last two matches. Must be more than 12 though.
Unibond stuff tonight. Oh for a little bit of quality up front.

Re: Game thread against Luton

Totaley agree about Craig Lindfield couldn't hit a barn door:rolleyes: never mind the back of the net how he mist the open goal at the end i'll never know:eek:,should have taken him of at half time and brought Higginbottom on wasted on the bench and you could see hes getting frustrated with not getting the nod.thought John Miles had a good game in the thick of things Ryan had another good game,as for master Bell haven't made my mind up yet!needs more games, thougth he got court out of possiton a few times in the first half, improvement in the second.Mullers neely scored a cracking goal hit the cross bar,4 points dropped in last 2 games,we really shoudn't be looking over our sholder but Bournemouth only 9pts behind:(

MCR ADIM 24-02-2009 22:54

Re: Game thread against Luton

Lindfield just does not have that end product! You can not knock him for the effort and play that he does becuase he is good working with mullin, chases down the ball, gets to flick ons but he just cant put it in back of the net. I think McConville will be a good league player just needs to get more weight so he does not get pushed off the ball he is good in the air though won few headers! Jay Bell play well aswell he can play the ball well. I would of played turner from the start he has pace, he runs at the defence, gets good crosses in and does not get pushed of the ball easy. Everytime he has started we seem to play better he creates chances for us! jimmy played really well in the centre would of been good if that shot would of gone in, he can sure put some power into his shots. Higginbottom should of come on at half time and Kissock as that was his last game for us i think? Should of won we needed to win. We was lucky they didnt score, hitting the post and the defender clearing off the line twice. Lets hope we get a clean sheet on saturday and coley is wearing a kilt.

The only information I could find was on the SkySports site which states that his loan with us began on 29th January. If that's true then he'll still be here for the Shots game.

Sky Sports | Football News | League 2 | Accrington Stanley | John Paul Kissock

It's hard to find such info when the fishy site's news archive won't allow access to 2009 articles, and of course he has no player profile. :(

We are getting into a dog fight.

For my part I have a feeling that Bournemouth Barnet and Grimsby will survive.

Chester I am not sure about.

I would not like to put any money on the last relegation place though.

We must start getting some wins again.

Do not agree :( I feel that Ballmouth will escape but Luton along with one of three Chester,Barnet,Grimsby! Will follow them into the Blue Square, I have been confident all season that we will not be falling back out of the League :)

A few wins, fingers crossed will take Stanley out of the equation as you say.

Another inept performance from accy, around xmas time i foresaw squeaky bum time approaching.Certain participants on this forum had a go at me and told me i should get behind the team instead of finding fault with the management.Colemans comments about the fans being to blame if accy go down is just a smoke screen to detract from the fact that he can't take critisism when things go wrong. If all the missing fans came back and we had a full house all the shouting and singing in the world wouldn't help while there is no cohesion in the team,i know we have a limited budget and things are tight but things haven't improved much over the last 2 and a half seasons. This is the 3rd season on the run looking over our shoulders and relying on the results of other teams, has coleman got some sort of a hex on Eric, many clubs would have sacked a manager with the record of W-L-Ds that we have.As a paying fan i have the right to my opinion, and that opinion is that Coleman should go,if not now then he should be replaced at the end of he season.I for one am fed up of paying good money to watch **** poor performances,i hope we get the points we need to survive,or is there some underlying plot????????????????????????????.

Grimsby have Adam Proudlock who I well know to be capable of performing at Championship Level let alone League 2 to score goals for them.

Re: Game thread against Luton

As I got to watch 90 minutes of a game for once, My opinion for whatever it is worth is:
McConville, I personally thought he had a fair start, looks a promising player for the future.
Miles - should have been replaced by Kissock - in fact Kissock should have started instead of Miles.
Too many long balls lumped up the park towards Mullin, who was getting nothing all night, and getting fouled into the process, which the Ref and his assistants failed to notice or just plain ignored it.
Jimmy Ryan - revelation, played his heart out.
Keiran Charnock - absolutely brilliant in defence, especially the goal line clearance.
Phil Edwards and Cav both rocks in defence and assisted in attack when they could.
Kenny looked a bit suspect for 2 chances when coming out but to be fair, his defence assisted and helped to keep it 0-0.
Turner when he came on was lucky to stay on the park, but otherwise had a few good runs.
Callum should also have played.
Maybe we should try a new system, because teams have sure as hell worked out how we play. Maybe it is time to move Paul Mullin into midfield next to his brother and use 2 smaller quicker forwards in attack.

Luton look a team doomed and I agree with K-P, I do not think we will be relegated, unless the seats don't go in in time. The second team is from Grimsby, Chester and Bournemouth, although I think the latter will escape. Personally, Chester are my favourites to accompany Luton to the BSP

Luton Manager:

"It's a difficult place to come, John Coleman's built something special here coming from non-league and he can be proud of that.

"You know Accrington. They're hard-working, they're a great bunch of lads, they've got a fantastic spirit here, and, to be fair to them, they caused us a few problems."

Only seen him a couple of times and he looks useful, but I will reserve judgement just yet, although he was unlucky on a couple of occasions. Would have preferred Kissock playing with him rather than Miles

Re: Game thread against Luton

am proberly going to get shot down here, but here goes.

Paul Mullin works hard all game is a good holder of the ball, scores quite a few aswell and good passing skills and Lindfield works well with him but, how about in the 2nd half bring Mullinoff and put Kallum upfront with Lindfield and have Turner, Ryan, Miles and kissock in midfield this way we have two young lads upfront Kallum can score as he did against us when he was at rochdale and so can Lindfield. They can both work of each other instead of one of them always working of Mullin and they will run with the ball at the defence. Same with Turner i rate him alot, and i think he should start more games than he has this season. He has alot of pace and can take on the defence and usualy is succesfully in takeing on the oppostion and gettin the ball either in the box or around the 18yard area. Same goes for Kissock on the other side. Ryan plays well in the middle always works hard to get the ball and pass it around and put shots in. It proberly will not happen but its just a suggestion.

Re: Game thread against Luton

Good ideas mcr adim, but there's nothing really wrong with Paul being up front. The pure and simple fact is that our midfield give him a negligible amount of decent service.
As a classic goal poacher, balls in the onion bag are hard to come by when your only way of obtaining the ball is to track back 40 yards, or to challenge two defenders for the 156th long ball from the 'keeper.

yep mullins a great servant n decent goal scorer, may just be me but i reckon 90 mins is getting a bit much, reckon he will last even longer if used fer 45 mins.

shakermaker 26-02-2009 22:39

Re: Game thread against Luton

I think he'd last longer if all he had to do was concentrate on what he does best - popping the spherical thing into the netted thing.

As it is he's knackering himself out chasing down balls that really the younger midfielders should be getting and crossing over to 'our Paul'.

Watch the goal Chris Turner set up against Barnet - this is what we should be trying to achieve every game!

thats what am trying to get at! that goal was quailty great run and confidence by Turner to take on the defenders and put it in the box and Mullin just tapped it in. We should use the wings more often specialy when we have people like Turner, Kissock, Grant, McConville on them. They all have good quailty. Than when the ball gets punched out by the keeper or headed out by a defender, Jimmy Ryan is waiting to smash one into the back of the net.

Seems simple, dunnit?

What would we know!

maccawozzagod 26-02-2009 23:24

Re: Game thread against Luton

Stanleys problem has been the lack of a decent foil for Mullers. He is better than he has ever been at keeping the ball and bringing others into play, but as pointed out, whilst he is doing that there is nobody in the 18 yard box. His last decent partner was Gary Roberts (Gornell not really here long enough, or ours etc etc).

I'd like to see one of our surplus wingers being used as Gary was, imagine Turner with his surging runs starting 20 yards further upfield!!!

cashman 26-02-2009 23:39
