Darlington enter administration
Im guessing if this happened it would be a 10 point deduction? Dont think it would help us that much to push to safety as they would still be 11 points ahead! BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | D | Darlington | Darlington enter administration |

Interesting stuff in the official statement:

Re: Darlington Enter Administration
From The Independent:
The move has been blamed on continued low attendances ... just 2,858 supporters turned out to watch last night's 2-1 defeat by Rochdale. Good people of Accrington, please take note. Meanwhile, the administrator seems to be accepting a 10pt deduction as inevitable. |

Re: Darlington Enter Administration
always feel sorry fer the fans n players in these sad cases, wynonie n meself were only talking about this after the game last night, the deductions penalise those mentioned only- in my book, n the cretins who caused it sit in their ivory towers safe from any real punishment.:(

Re: Darlington Enter Administration
they wont be the last....
for all the moans on here eric does appear to run a tight ship, that hopefully means stanley will stay afloat...... more fans through the turnstiles would be a big help. |

Re: Darlington Enter Administration
from the Darlington website
"I bought the club two and a half years ago with a determination to achieve promotion and success. A key to my plan was to develop land around the club and use rental revenues to support the income from match tickets and develop the team to championship levels. "The plan has suffered two setbacks. First, it has taken too long to expedite the required planning permission to bring the site to the market. Secondly, the recession has meant both that the football attendances have been lower and development opportunities will realise less money. Why Build a 25,500 seat stadium when on gates under 4,000 |
Re: Darlington Enter Administration
Yeah they should get a -25 point deduction for falling into admin during the season. Im sure thats part of the FA rules.

Darlo could operate very smoothly on their average gates if they choose to work within their means. Building 25000 seater castles in the sand with 3k gates has only one outcome! Once again football fans suffer because of the idiocy and greed of businessmen. Posted via Mobile Device |

Another point here, Yeah they should get a -25 point deduction for falling into admin during the season. Im sure thats part of the FA rules. as Nickelson as said, this is the second time they have gone into administration, surely that should be a 17 point at least deduction as with Bournemouth and Rotherham. Not that I wish that on them but once again a club is being allowed to stay in the league and get away with paying pennies in the pound, yet in '62 we resigned for being unable to pay our debts and that was accepted. Maybe these clubs should restart just like we had to all those years ago. |
Re: Darlington Enter Administration
Quite true Outback Ozzy, how times have changed!! Still don't know why we have to pay the expense of more seats, that we don't need!!

BBC Sport - Darlington could fold by weekend, say administrators
Looks it will take an 11 and 3/4 hour bid to save the club from death:( |
Re: Darlington Enter Administration
I saw Darlo recently. They are saddled with a 20,000+ stadium that wouldn't be out of place in the Championship. God knows how much it costs to maintain. They've no chance of breaking even in League 2, let alone the Conference.
Something to bear in mind when a certain other club thinks of relocating? |

Donations welcome if you want to :o
You are my Darlo! Blog Home Middlesborough have allowed Darlo fans to do bucket collections before there home game v Burnley at the Riverside Stadium. Anyone on here who is on Burnley forums could you pass the message on. I know this thread isn't to do with ASFC and should probably be in the Sports section, but we all know what the Darlo fans are goin through at the moment and the feeling of uncertainty that surround there club. :( |
Re: Darlington Enter Administration
Spot on and it might be nice for somebody from our club to try and organise a collection, as they helped us out on our Friday night S.O.S. night - just a thought - I know I would chuck a few quid in to repay their help!!

Just seen on S.S.N. Darlo relegated FOUR Leagues, think that now puts them six away from F.L. Footy, but still with a team............
As some of us know, cannot be easy for the FANs - who are probably not to blame!!! |

those fans have enjoyed the fruits of dodgy investments for some time with numerous trips to Wembley over the past decade so I'd not be too worried for them!
Like you said Val, at least they still got a team even if they have shafted all their creditors Wynonie, Darlo have left the Arena now and will ground share with Shildon. The Arena stands empty ... |

I remember when we played our first home game back in the Football League against Darlington. They brought a very good following and to me that night epitomised the return of league football to the town of Accrington!
