Effin refs
In todays Observer Coley quite rightly says the Port Vale ref should have delayed calling off the match to give the pitch time to clear as the rain had stopped. The ref said the pitch was dangerous. Can anyone tell me how a bit of water on a pitch can be deemed dangerous?
Forget that - of course even stepping outside the doorstep can dangerous in the minds of the fearful. The paranoid elf and safety culture is slowly strangling the life out of our society. Does anyone else remember the great photo of living legend Tom Finney surfing the puddles in the 50's and creating a huge bow wave? Wonder what he thinks of it all.:( |
Re: Effin refs
a puddle of standing water makes fer a crap game, spectator wise, as fer dangerous, i would say the studs in boots are nowhere near as efficient as in toms day, its a different world Redraine, not everything is better IMHO. but in this instance i reckon it was the correct descision. Both clubs involved have small squads, stanleys being smaller i think, the chance of serious injury on a pitch full of water is much increased, that aint rocket science its obvious.:)

In my short time on this earth I have yet to see a puddle - however big - break a person's leg :D

Re: Effin refs
I'll repeat what I posted the other day. Rob Heys said the referee left it as long as possible before calling the game off and it was the right decision.
So which is the 'official' club statement ? |
