Eric Whalley

|
Re: Eric Whalley
heard summat similar on sat, its Que Sera init?
|
Re: Eric Whalley
This is, as K-P said in another thread the worst kept secret at ASFC at the moment.
|
Re: Eric Whalley
Whichever way it goes he has been a shrewd custodian for stanley without a doubt ! I could name many chairman who have wrecked clubs. litigation laws being what they are I would not name them , nor could I give you any leads. He should always be thought of as having done a great job, okay one or two on here would like european football but I think a little patience might be required on that one !
|
Re: Eric Whalley
it seems many people have known about this for a while, but I don't think it's fair to comment on summat that may or not be happening. We should wait until an announcement is made one or t'other. Revisit the thread in about six months then?

Re: Eric Whalley
Well as an outsider I don't think Stanley wouldn't have made the progress they have but for Eric, there are lots of people get into football to make something out of it and when it goes belly up they leave the club high and dry, Eric has been very prudent in the way he runs the club, they could certainly have done a lot worse. I just hope any one coming in has the same ethos as Eric or the ship could become very rocky without much effort. Just think what would happen if the Rusky pulled out of Chelski, with their overheads

Re: Eric Whalley
WOW this is huge for you all.I feel sure that whoever he's floogged the club too will have the clubs interests at heart and won't fleece it and kick it into touch.
ERIC WHALLEY -RESURECTION GENIUS |
Re: Eric Whalley
I also hope that the new owner. Just remembers what a great job Coley and Jimmy do and just because we go on abit of a losing streak he does not sack them!
|
Re: Eric Whalley
Come on chaps, I'm a long time Accy Stanley boy now living in Massachusetts. The only info I get is reading this board. Need more info on this story.....please!
|
Re: Eric Whalley
Let's hope we can finally move forward, I bet one or two might have sweeky bums depending on who takes over, this is the news I've been waiting for to buy my season ticket.
|
Re: Eric Whalley
Really hope the new guy has the clubs interests before their own.
|
Re: Eric Whalley
Is the new guy already at Stanley in some capacity ?

Re: Eric Whalley
the DO'N!

Re: Eric Whalley
Richard Branson has been out of the spotlight lately , perhaps an audacious bid for Stanley has kept him occupied !

Re: Eric Whalley
cheers hopefully the new guy will be able to bring some funds which Eric couldnt give, but he's done the club a job some chairmens couldn't dream of doing
|
Re: Eric Whalley
Funds or not to start with,it is at the very least a long overdue move by Eric. A fresh outlook is just what the Dr ordered (sp). Thats one more season ticket the club will sell when the deal is done.

Re: Eric Whalley
Hi guys,
Bury fan here, just seen that your club has been taken over. It's been discussed on our message board and we all wish you well and genuinely hope it works out for the fans and the club. Despite the 'Greed is God' league and the likes of Chelsea and Manure, football would be a poorer place without clubs like ours. All the best. |

Re: Eric Whalley
just to say EW is a legend in my book - without his solid stewardship I doubt there would be an Accrington Stanley. As it appears we're about to head into the unknown, I think it only right we record our respect and gratitude to Mr ASFC.
- - - and yeah, I sure hope the JC/JB remains in situ - despite the frustrated comment that gets voiced on here, we all know they have done an incredible job on a shoestring. |
Re: Eric Whalley
Eric was on BBC Northwest last night and he seemed to say nothing had been sealed yet, in fact he told Gordon Burns he had had a text message from some one who told him not to sell until he'd seen him, but he wouldn't disclose any names even when pushed by Burns

Re: Eric Whalley
Anyone read the two page spread in the back of the L.E.T its a question and answer with Eric Whally. It's a very interesting read Eric talks about how he thinks he has took the club as far as he can and how he would not sell it unless he knew the new investers could continue to take the club forward, about how losing the investment of Faser and Hollands pies effect the club and about the tunrover of the club. It's a very good read also thier is abit at the side about him putting Accrington back on the map which is also very good.

Re: Eric Whalley
I got told Marton O'Neil as the name behind the take over, assuming he is some relation to David

Re: Eric Whalley
Why is it so tough for Accrington Stanley at this level
The Article about the post i posted earlier. |
Re: Eric Whalley
Yeh, it's a good piece and gives us a little glimpse into the running and financial constraints that the club has to operate under. On the buyout , I'm glad the guy who is heading the takeover (we're now told Dave O'Neill) is already involved with the club, which suggests there will be some continuity.
