Brentford Away
Once again we are running a coach to the next away game, next up is Brentford away next Saturday and the ground with a pub on each corner
The coach will be £20 and will be setting off at 8am from outside the crown on Whalley road Anyone who wants to book on the coach should see myself at the game tomorrow on the Clayton end or lee in the club shop |
Re: Brentford Away
Bump!
C'mon Stanley Fans, there is a pub at each corner & the close season is nearly upon us. When you are stood in a hot & sweaty Home base in the middle of June, you will wish you had gone to London to watch the reds. One more memory to keep you sane till August!!! |
Re: Brentford Away
Morning all.
We're getting a bit excited down here as we could go up if we beat you guys and other results go in our favour. I hope as many of you as possible will make the trip and enjoy the atmosphere. You won't experience any trouble and will have to have a pint or two in all four of the pubs. The Griffin is the nearest one to the away end, and the best. The New Inn is a Celtic pub but shows all the footie on Sky/Setenta. The Princess Royal is the only one that is really a home pub, but away fans can still go in there. The Royal Oak is further along from the away end again although a bit of a home pub you will still be able to go in there. Have a safe and enjoyable trip, and make the most of it as hopefully you won't be back for a league game next season. |
Re: Brentford Away
I can only endorse Willy's sentiments. I was between houses last year and rented a place in Brentford for a few weeks, and a fine place it is too, a working class enclave in the midst of the posh egg-chasers of Richmond and followers of QPR, Chelsea and Fulham, once proud, independent football clubs now reduced to the status of rich mens' playthings. Brentford fans are the real thing, so don't be afraid to say hello.
Brentford is also the location of some of West London's better pubs, none of which, alas, can be found around the ground. For those wishing to imbibe something which consists of more than just gas and chemicals, set your compass to the town centre (10 mins from Griffin Park) and head for (in order of preference): O'Brien's (11 London Rd, TW8 8JB) The Magpie & Crown (128 High St, TW8 8EW) The Brewery Tap (47 Catherine Wheel Rd, TW8 8BD) Of the pubs around the ground, the Griffin is the most popular, you'll find the Fullers range on sale here, but at £3.20 a pint it is notoriously expensive. The London Stanley brigade will be out in force, please do come and join us if you're around, starting approx 12.30 in O'Briens. Phil |
