sitting room only

With the clayton end closed tomorrow and the cowshed,it will seem strange just having fans on two sides

Hopefully all the checks and certificates can be sorted today so the Clayton End can be open tomorrow.

When purchasing my ticket today I was informed that it was unlikly to be open but I would not be charged the full stand price to sit in the main stand

The club must have known this was going to happen we should have got the Coppice End for the last home game of the season, what a joke.

Re: sitting room only

WTF!! Just checked fishy site as i thought surely not another clanger by the club, but alas im totally confused:

Quote:

However the ongoing work will unfortunately have a knock on effect on the operation of the ground tomorrow afternoon for our home game against Chesterfield.

Away supporters will be housed in the Coppice Terrace as usual, with tickets already sold through their club.

Home supporters will have the choice of seating in the Main Stand accessible through the turnstiles adjacent to the club offices, with admission by ticket or cash on the gate. Home supporters wishing to stand will be accomodated on the northern section of the Whinney Hill Terrace but due to the fact that numbers in this area are restricted fans will only be admitted with a ticket. These can be purchased from the Stanley Store before 1.00pm or the ticket office thereafter. Please note all season ticket holders will be guaranteed entry into the area for which their ticket has been issued.
The club would like to thank all supporters for their understanding of this situation that we have for this one game as we work to mak sure that Accrington Stanley will play in the Football League in 2009/10!

As a season ticket holder for the clayton end terrace, does the above statement mean i will get entry to the clayton end???? & what is the whinney hill terrace north section???

Baffled red me

It should be closed because of the work being done there. I would have thought the CDM regulation would apply while fitting those new seats. I suspect all the volunteers wont be insured if they hurt themselves or each other either.

Who knows? But if I can't stand in the ground then I will stand at the bar in the Oaklea or another drinking establishment for 90 minutes.

I know the building work has to be done blah blah blah but why was it left to the 11th hour, I know the weather has been a factor, the whinney hill could easily have been closed after the Bradford game and the work done and dusted so it all could have been used for when the Clayton had to be closed :confused::confused:

If you have a standing season ticket, you can stand in the north section of the Whinney Hill terrace... cow sheds.

If you have no season ticket but wish to stand, buy a ticket to do so (in the store before 1pm, ticket office thereafter).

Simple innit?

Re: sitting room only

Clayton end is shut, they have taken some seats back out of the whinney hill home side to allow anyone who normally stands in the clayton end to stand in the whinney hill terrace,

The club wanted to open the clayton end with the seats covered with netting but this has been refused so they have worked hard to allow us to stand elsewhere.

just slide those daggers back into your pockets

You can probably use pre-purchased Clayton End tickets for the cow sheds. This information should've been included in the piece, but it is probably implied (or inferred? Can never remember the difference).

The people at the club have been dealing with officials from all over the gaff today trying to get the Clayton End open so it's unfair to have a go, imho.

Why? How long have the club known these extra seats needed to be fitted, 2 seasons? What have they done about it? They've done nothing but bury their heads in the sand, hoping the matter would go away. As usual they have left things till the last minute and deserve all the flak they are getting.

Must admit I was a bit confused about the message on the fishy site re: season tickets will be admitted to the area their ticket has been issued for... Oh well its only the last game I will just follow the crowd :D plus I can't stand in Lesley spot anymore anyway (stupid football league and their stupid seating policy grrr) so it will seem odd no matter where I end up

Quite the opposite, Val...I'll be turning up at my usual time of 2.55 (after liquid refreshment in the Oak Lea with other chaps). If it is full, then I'll be returning to that excellent hostelry with all due speed. Never sat down at a Stanley home match in 49 years and don't intend to start now!

Good on you mate! You could always ask the houses at the back if you could stand on the fence for 90mins :D and it would save you few quid aswell.

Well, there's no way I'm sitting in that stand. Won't be depriving the club of money, as I've already paid for the match with my season ticket (apart from my quid for a draw ticket but I'll give Liz two quid at the first home match of next season to make up for it).

Just think that people like to know whats going on - routine and that - it would have been nice to have been pre-empted of the situation thats all. You know the score -club,fans,communication.....:):)

harwood red 25-04-2009 11:02

Re: sitting room only

I know this all seems a bit of a nightmare and I know I haven't had the best of weeks but lets put this into a little bit of context....

Please note this is only my opinion

The seats have been done last minute I think for a couple of reasons..firstly cost and maybe seeing if there were any grants to help out there and waiting for the seats to be available but has anyone thought it might also be cos they wanted to avoid what is happening right now earlier in the season and maybe losing fans for the rest of the season... they could have held on to try to keep fans in their normal places for as long as possible!

one thing I have to re-interate is the club had NO choice in putting the seats in and yes I don't like how they have gone in either but I do know that a lot of thought has gone into the best way to do it.

REMEMBER THE CLUB HAVE NOT CLOSED THE CLAYTON END - LCC HAVE

Well, John, if "awkward" means criticising my club when I feel they are going about things the wrong way, then, yes, guilty as charged.

As for "thick", you could well be right, but I wasn't aware that you had to reach a certain IQ level to be a Stanley fan.

I still reckon all this could have been handled a lot better, if the club had spent more time over the last three years considering how to address this problem and I didn't enjoy standing on the Cowshed side one bit today (apart from the great view of the wondergoal!).

However, it's happened, the seats are going in and I will say no more on the subject! :)

Posted via Mobile Device.however i felt, in response to shakermakers post, which initially happened, i couldnt get into the cowshed nor see anything of the footy but heads of fans, i went with a few to the main stand. Where i sat then made it a hard 1st half to watch & enjoy the match. 2nd half whilst finding familiar friendly faces to which i then sat with, shaker proved his point & i enjoyed the match & viewing enjoyable. Main stand DO make loud noises too, i was surprised & felt at home, thanks accymad n family for adopting me.

Stanleymad 26-04-2009 09:34

Re: sitting room only

Posted via Mobile Device. Another point as for the cowshed, think mick shultz n co, did do their level best to accommodate standing to the max possible otherwise it would of been just that corner only & rest of ya would of have to be seated in main stand to a squish. The desicion was out of his hands & did the best to make do with what space he was allowed, which meant taking the new seats out to have to put back in again for one game disruption limitation.
