Exeter have scored against rotherham, currently winning 0-1 which if stays that way it will be irrelevant the score line at Gigg lane for Bury as they can't automatically be promoted

Just glad Brighton stayed up ... that would have been a treck on a Tuesday night in December !!!!!!! I hope Gillingham go up in the play offs so we can keep the Derby games with Bury and Rochfail.I know it sounds bad but i was thinking of the gate revenue and hard cash both clubs bring to Stanley.

Another great away day:)

some great fancy dress costumes which added to the carnival like atmosphere created by the away support.

We outplayed Bury for large portions of the game and deserved nothing less than a draw out of the game, unfortunately it was not to be but once again we can match most teams in this league and next season bodes well, if we can play like we have over the past season and just gain perhaps a little more consistency in front of goal, the good times will roll:)

Why on earth did Cav take the penalty. Disgraceful decision, get rid of him now - he is a liability. We will now have to suffer the comments of "How much did they bet on Stanley to lose this time". I for one hope we get rid of the trouble makers in the close season, Cav, Rocky, Dunbavin and Grant and hope we get some positive publicity next season.

For God's sake Jeff get a grip.
Why did Cavanagh take it? Maybe it was something to do with the rest of the players shirking away from the spot. Andy Procter seemed to shrink four feet and don a fake 'tache & specs as soon as the whistle was blown. The captain did his duty, sucked it up, and was unlucky to hit the shot - what - around four inches too high?

Only Kenny Arthur and Phil Edwards played to a high standard today - which is (absurdly) average for them. Cavanagh was no better or worse than any of the other outfield players. He's far from a liability.

Just got back from Bury and definitely thought Bury were fortunate to win. However regarding Cav and Rocky I will be very surprised if they are still here next season. I have just read the article in the Independent from 24th April and it makes for very grim reading, and as for Coleys statement that the charges are not about match fixing when he must know that match fixing is virtually impossible to prove i think this was a very strange statement to make and i am worried that there is still much more to emerge from this investigation.

Re: v Bury

Cav was very brave to step up for the penalty today! Infront of a big crowd, massive pressure on his shoulders due to the betting scandal and from players missing penaltys this season, and he took that upon himself to take the penalty, if another player would of stepped up and missed everyone would be saying the same why did he take it blah blah! Well done to cav for having the balls to take it, shame he missed had he scored he would of been a hero just like any other player had they taken it and scored. Great atmosphere by the fans today, and i thought that banner to coley was well thought and brillaint towards coley

Absolutely agree Wynonie - brilliant day out, only spoiled by that animal Sodje, his 'tackle' on Bobby Grant was disgusting and yet, surprise surprise he didn't even get a talking to never mind a booking.
When the Bury fans invaded the pitch after their penalty went in they thought they'd achieved automatic promotion - it was funny to see it slowly filtering through that they were actually only in the play offs, would be even funnier if they were punished for the pre-whistle invasion with a points deduction :)

Yes Bury could have scored again, but so could we :) I noticed yesterday, unless I got it wrong, but in the first 10/15 mins. I saw Charnock in their area, with his 29 shirt on, then later in the half it was just blank - never saw him change it ?? - Then second half it was back to 29 ??? Did not see him swap his top at all. Speaking to a "Fan" outside before I went in - think he was a proper fan, as he was talking about the fog at the F.E.S. When he went earlier in the season :) - he said they were averaging 3K ish this season, so 4K plus as you say just there for the "Glory" Pity those 4K might have cost them automatic promotion :D:rofl38::rofl38: That will teach them to run over to us, flicking the V's and gloating... Surely Coleman has a designated penalty taker before the kick off and if he designated Cavanagh then I think it was a stupid thing to do. As soon as we were awarded the penalty Cavanagh took the ball and hid it behind his back, there was no way that anybody else was going to take it. Don't bother sticking up for Cavanagh HE MISSED IT for goodness sake.

He did what you're supposed to do - whack it in the top corner. Perhaps you should watch the replay. It had the keeper well beaten and was a matter of inches away from going in. To chastise him for that is simply idiotic and evident of some misplaced vendetta.

I've watched the replay and no matter how many times I watch it he didn't 'whack it in the top corner'. If he had have 'whacked it in the top corner' it would have been a goal. Cavanagh has had a bet on Stanley to lose and is being investigated, he should never have been in the position of taking a penalty which could have decided a Stanley game, in fact, he should not have even been on the pitch, and don't give me that 'innocent until proven guilty' rubbish. He has admitted he had a bet and forgot about it.

Nowhere did I say that anything to do with this betting saga is 'ok with me' Cashman, I felt sick to the stomach when it first came out, all I said was until we know for sure that either or both of them is guilty (and right now the only ones who do know for sure are the lads themselves) what's the point of raking it over time and again.
There are some on here who don't like Rocky and/or Cav and in my opinion have used this as an excuse to have a pop at them before they know the truth.

I agree some people do not like Cav/Rocky and will use any mistake be it on the pitch or not to have a go at them! The betting thing was totally wrong! But until the hearing is over and everyone knows the outcome whats the point in saying anything. We can take alot of positives out of the season and put forward into the next season.

There are some on here who don't like Rocky and/or Cav and in my opinion have used this as an excuse to have a pop at them before they know the truth.

Rocky has not denied that he bet against Stanley. Cav has admitted that he bet against Stanley but is pleading not guilty. If Cav has admitted it then he is guilty and anybody is justified haing a pop at him. He missed a penalty at a crucial stage in a game whilst under investigation. I personally think that it was disgraceful that he took the penalty. I think there are a lot on here who don't like Rocky and/or Cav probably because they feel cheated after paying good money to watch Stanley then finding out that they are involved in a betting scandal. I bet there are a lot on here who don't like Mannix, Harris and Mangan as well.

In my opinion, Cav should not have taken the penalty! He was probably thinking of going out in a blaze of glory, but with all things considered - Bury, Betting Etc. Was not the right thing to have happened. We have a penalty taker, if he was not up to it then we have a few who can hit it hard - Cav being one of them, but wrong decision for him - if Proccy was not up to it Cav, as captain could have nominated somebody, but as somebody has already posted, Cav got the ball straight away and nobody was getting it off him.

That's the point, surely. Donkey's years flogging away climbing the pyramid with Stanley and now apparently likely (although I for one am not prejudging the outcome) to be banned for what may just be a penny-ante (OK £5-ante) bit of stupidity - I'd certainly have grabbed the chance to go out with a bang.

I agree with Jeff and others that a suspension pending the decision would have been the right way for the club to go - but that wasn't Cav's decision. So there he was on the pitch, as captain, and in those circumstances I have no trouble at all with him taking the pen, especially if Proccy wasn't keen.

Just as well it wasn't Rocky who gave away the last-minute penalty, I suppose. That would really have given the hanging judges something to shout about .......

Re: v Bury

In regard to the penalty at Bury,(and I was there) I'd ask the same question as others have asked......

Why weren't others lined up to take the doomed kick in front of Cavanagh??? ( incidentaly the SECOND spot kick we missed against the Shakers this/last term !! ) I know Proccy has missed a couple this season, but (as a team) four misses out of five this term speaks volumes. Seems to me,we've had a problem hitting the net from the twelve yard spot last term.

If that was Cavanagh's last contribution in a Stanley shirt then what a way to bow out ( as others have said ) I'd love to know if Proccy ever had a say in taking that penalty??? I thought he ranup to it with a "hit and hope attitude ".... but as Cloughie used to say....."for missing the target from there son you want bloody shooting !!!"

As for Williams, I've never been his greatest fan, I thought he was a decent player in the non league days.Since the step up to the league,it's been a league too far as far as Williams is concerned. But IF found guilty of the charges laid at his door,Sorry to all the Williams fans out there, I for one won't be sorry to see him go.:o

The F.A. have had nearly twelve months to sort out the damning evidence in the infamous betting scandal. Somehow, I don't think they'd drag the issue on that long if they knew there was some doubt that they'd get a result.:o

Admittedly we played well for a long time against a side who have been up there all season long. In a way we rained on their parade a little. It would have been even nicer to notch a win there and end the season on a real high. A special mension to all the Ultras with their outstanding fancy dress contributions. Quality !! I noticed Elvis giving the munchkins in the main stand the needle and it made me laugh!!:D

Good luck to the Shakers in the play offs. I think they'll probably need it as the end of season lottery (and history proves it throughout the leagues ) doesn't seem to favour the highest placed side.

I'd end on a slight note of caution though. As it's been announced that the wage budget drops by 25% next term, I can't see the ten year record streching to eleven next year.(although I hope I'm wrong !! ) I think unless the football genius can pull a few rabbits out of hat's between now and August, it's another long (hopefully successful) fight against the drop back to obscurity next term.:(

Shrewsbury Town are on form at the moment, but yes Gillingham where the best team I've seen at Stanley this season.

It'll be a good final to watch I think?

I agree, both at home and away, they were the best team I've seen in the League. But, don't forget just after they beat us at Gillingham they got stuffed 7-0 by Shrewsbury.

Re: v Bury

Went to Bury's play off game on Sunday.

Whilst the Shaker's were very unlucky, I didn't see much to impress me about Shrewsbury over the two games against Bury to make me think they'd be favourites for the final.

I'd have thought that Gills will probably outnumber the Shrews fans at Wembley ( being about an hour's trip from Kent at a push) and from what the Gills showed against Dale, I'd hope they'd come through that game and win.

At least Shrewsbury is North of the Watford Gap and there's a near certainty the Shrews would bring a bigger folowing to the F.E.S. than the boys from Kent???

Given they have a 38,000 allocation against Shrews 21,000 allocation I think that may be right :)
