Mr. O'Neil and Rob on Radio Lancs Now......

Re: welcome aboard The Don!

Now O'Neill is the man will this forum be linked to the fishy site again and if the shackles are off will Rob Heys and his crew once again post on here?

Will Lee be replaced in the shop?

Will the ban on Kipax posting be lifted?

The interview on Radio Lancashire did state that there would be some new additions to the staff at the club, as they'd been too light for too long.

I just hope that they appoint the right people this time, instead of merely making do.

So give the Club the hint........ Who and in what positions???

If they're are to get in right some public opinion will be welcome IMHO!!:)

Re: welcome aboard The Don!

I dont know who does what at the club but a good start will be letting people do the jobs they are employed to do!

No doubt it will take time to get the people and positions identified and recruited so we probably have a period of transition to look forward to. Its all good though!

Well there's a position now (I'd assume) in terms of club shop and merchandising. I understand that the previous employee may have had their hands tied, but simply communicating with the customers isn't hard.

I'd like to see someone in a position of merchandising and club shop operations. Look carefully at the design of shirts (you'd sell more if they were attractive) and other merchandising options. I understand that the customer base for Stanley is relatively small, but numerous people have been calling out for training tops (as an example) to be available, which are the same as the players wear. We've never got those, just the same old tired lines of stuff, that aren't even that attractive anymore.

Employ someone who shows innovation and an ability to both spot gaps in the market and listen to customer demands. There are opportunities there, but sadly they've been missed time and again.

In addition to that, this person would need to be a decent communicator with the customers. Answer all emails promptly. Dispatch orders quickly and if items are out of stock, let the customers know!!
This person could also be responsible for daily updates to the website. A daily report on what's been happening at the club and with the squad would get people looking on the site regularly. This would go a long way towards repairing the damage done to sections of the fan-base through years of general apathy and it would only have to take less than 30 minutes per day.

That's one idea, for starters.

Mr O'Neill should have been at the club longer enough to have an idea who he wants to keep as part of his new team, if he hasn't the time lost deciding will be lost money for the club because as it's been mentioned before there are lots of opportunities that have been missed due to Whalleys way of business.

The link to Lee in the thread about the club shop is interesting. He said he got the job because he played in the same Sunday league team as Rob Heys. That sort of appointment should be a thing of the past. TM has some excellent thoughts here. The job should be advertised; a job spec should be drawn up; interviews should be held. A person with ideas, with ambition, with drive should be appointed.

The move towards a truly professional approach to management and administration begins today.

I agree, I've just updated my CV if he decides to advertise.

I have offered my services to the club before now when they last recruited for a shop manager/ admin helper, got a lovely letter from Rob saying they couldn't afford me! I would love to have a bash at it and have over 25 years of retail experience in management positions, if the vacancy is open to all comers I will give it a try again! :D

As you know Lindsay a position like that if run correctly pays for its self, looks like the club were not forward thinking enough to take a chance on you, I hope things now change.:(

¡Caramba! All happening now, isn´t it? Good luck, El Don. Now, where does Ilyas and the FF fit into all this? Apologies if someone has already said, but don´t have time to read all the posts - Cristal (el cerveza de Peru) to drink, guinea pigs to eat and all that. ¡Onwards and upwards!

Now that he - The DON - has had time to settle in, I feel that it is about time that we found out his plans, ideas for the future Etc. Maybe there will be a chance of a new share issue?? I think it is about time that we the fans/supporters knew what was going on at our club.....:):)

Congratulations and good luck to David O'Neill. Let's hope some new ideas are generated and the relationship with the fans is given more prominence. It's the only way forward for a club like ours. Now, let's hope we can get on with the business of sorting out a decent squad.

Posted via Mobile Device Good luck to David O neil i think he will need it lol. Been a long awaited result and hope we can start to sort the mess left in order to get the team and club into a decent league 2 level. Hope that better running and communication will finally happen this time apathy is tiresome and mass improvement is in motion.
