Although he didn't have anything to do, I wouldn't say he stands out as our new number one.
There'll be better out there.

Radcliffe were probably the poorest of the teams we've played so far this pre-season, but it was a good run out.

Sam Russell had 3 years at Darlington, before Rochdale, so plenty of experience there.

Re: Radcliffe Tonite

[the 2008–09 season Russell was handed the number one shirt for Rochdale. He has made some important saves for Rochdale this season, however he makes the occasional mistake, such as scoring an own goal in the Rochdale and Bury derby, and slipping in a late equaliser by Jamie Ward against Chesterfield despite a Tom Kennedy late winner]. - seems like could be another Gary Sprake.:D still i made a mistake.............Once.:D taken fron wiki.

Re: Radcliffe Tonite

I've been talking today to a Darlo fan who reckons that they would willingly have him back - and had hoped, in fact, that Colin Todd might have moved in for him. Says he's a good keeper, was popular with the fans and he reckons that if he were to play for us against Darlo he'd get an ovation from the Darlo crowd. Sounds a far better option than Dunsavin!!!

Re: Radcliffe Tonite

The only action that Russell saw against Radcliffe was when a cross came in and he shouted "keeper's!", went to punch rather than catch the ball and subsequently gave a black eye to thin air. Obviously it'd be unfair to right him off after that game, but other reports seem to back up his tendency for such howlers.

Re: Radcliffe Tonite

I’d accept a tendency to make an occasional howler in preference to a tendency to make an occasional good save, which is what we see from Dunsavin. I certainly value the opinion of someone who’s watched him play at League 2 level for a couple of seasons. However, I’m sure Wikipedia must be right! Let’s hope, then, that the Martin deal might possibly still be alive. I’m sure we shall know soon enough.

How good is Martin Oldgobbin ? Please give us your opinion of him.

Re: Radcliffe Tonite

I honestly don't know, Jeff. Highly regarded here at Leeds but I haven't seen him play, so can't really comment. I personally was quite pleased to see that we were looking at Russell, because of my mate's opinions from Darlo, but that opinion was shot down in flames on here, so I feel I'm better just to wait and see. However, I HAVE seen Dunsavin and I KNOW he's poor!
