Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
As Rob was saying yesterday, the most money to be made will be made from TV coverage. I'd go for Newcastle, Man City or Spurs at home for the best chance of that. Possible home match against one of the 2 neighbours may be an outside chance of being shown, depending on the rest of the draw.
At this stage they tend to look for the possible biggest upset rather than the best possible football match. |

Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
Bet we get QPR away. And it rains.
;) |
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
At least we would have a roof over our heads, unlike the Walsall fans last night.
|
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
I either want to hit a team like Newcastle or get a team who we could beat then draw any of the top 4.
|
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
Man City at Eastlands could be quite tasty:)
|
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
:) Stoke city at home would do:)
|
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
I'd go for Man City, guaranteed to be on telly, and winnable for us. the "superstars" won't play as a team.
|
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
Bet it'll be Sunerland Away:confused:
|
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
I think it will be away at one of these..... swansea, cardiff or ipswich dont know why just a feeling
|
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
I'd settle for from any of Man City, Newcastle, Sunderland or Blackburn away....in that order.
Or to be a little greedier.....a "winnable tie" at home and a trip to Old Trafford or Anfield in round three!!!!!:D |

Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
I'd have been more upbeat if we'd have been at home, but a London game midweek is impossible for me to get to.
I'd have tried to book a day off, but as I'm in the midst of a 7 week holiday, it probably wouldn't go down too well........lol |
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
Even on Accy Site already :eek:
Carling Cup Second Round Wednesday 12th Aug 2009 Queens Park Rangers v Accringon Stanley Accrington Stanley will travel to Coca Cola Championship side Queens Park Rangers in the second round of the Carling Cup, week commencing Monday 24th August. Our opponents made it through to the second round last night with a 5-0 home win over Exeter City. It will be the first time our two sides have met since the 1959/60 season, with QPR recording a 5-1 win in the old Division Three. Further details of the tie including ticket details and away travel will be announced shortly. |
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
If we play like we did last night (with a better final pass) we could sneak it.
Chelsea in Rd 3, Man U in Rd 4, Liverpool in the Final - Europe here we come ......... Call me a jinx, heh? |
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
I've heard of a few fans of other clubs complaining about the prices at QPR but hopefully they may do a good discount for our game.

|
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
QPR are known for being expensive; but as Trapdoor said they may do a special consdiering most of their fans wont be to interested in a mid-week cup tie they expect to win.
cramped ground from memory, should make for a great atmosphere from our end. |

Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw

but let's look on the bright side eh? Are QPR not supposed to be the second richest in England? haves vs have nots cold be good for TV (haven't looked at the rest of the draw yet) and it could be winnable. Hopefully they'll be Bertie big bollox and play their kids. Come on Stanley! |

10 mins from my house! makes a change :D
Never been in the away end at loftus road before. i don't know when it was that your mates ran into trouble down here cashman but i've never seen much in the way of aggro, and shepherd's bush is always crawling with police on a matchday. i think it should be fine. |

Coleman was on the radio earlier and he wasn't happy with the draw. Everyone was hoping for a money-spinner, but yet again we're denied. |
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
This is a winable tie, I will be unable to attend as I am working 2 While 10 shift. I am sure it will be on the Radio, the club will make money so its not all doom and gloom.

having visited most grounds in the country wi my mates, found some are certainly a bit iffy fer away fans, fer example The Den, St Andrews,Upton Park,Prenton Park, Stamford Bridge, i assumed rightly or wrongly? many of the young uns that travel wi Stanley may not have? is it wrong to give em a heads up,?

Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
QPR are managed by Jim Magilton who took Gary Roberts from us to Ipswich and then decided he was not part of his plans.

the numpties are at most grounds and many Stanley have run into the gob****es. None of the Stanleyites give em anything to respond to and they are on their way.
We can do these stripey buggers so get yerselves booked on the coach. Any of teh Southern based Reds offering opinion yet? |

I think the problem with London grounds is that rent-a-mob can move round very easily, often nothing to do with the host club. I remember going to Leyton Orient years ago and we had loads of problems with West Ham fans, who of course could get in our end easily with a claret & blue scarf. |
Re: Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
When I last visited Loftus Road in 1981 Sheffield Wednesday won 2-1 finishing with 10 men the police were pulling supporters out of our end and I remember it was unclear why.

Last season was a bit stop-start for them with three different managers.. The continental connection in the boardroom and for a while through Sousa meant they had access to loads of italian and spanish loaners who mostly flattered to deceive, and looks like they might have gone down a similar route again with this Pellicori guy. They'll definitely get it down and play football. It's not a team built too heavily on brawn other than in the obvious places - the centre halves and Mahon in midfield. I guess Agyemang and Helguson up front are no shrinking violets neither. Routledge is probably their best-known threat, but for me the best players i've seen play there are Rowlands, Vine and Buzsaky - all of whom got bad injuries last year but are now back, i think. Don't think the defence is up to the standard of the midfield and although the rangers fans seem to like Cerny in goal, he's looked a bit error-prone whenever i've seen him. If they play the fringe players, Hogan Ephraim (L - sided attacking MF) is one who's been around the first team for a while with bags of ability but without really nailing down a spot (think Bobby Grant) while everyone expects big things of Angelo Balanta up front. |
