Says it all. Coley complains about our forwards not scoring goals and starts with Mullin and Grant, our two worst players against Northampton:(
Sorry for being negative, Ultras.

Re: Aldershot

Poor first half performance – Only three defenders on the pitch and Aldershot always come at you with pace and width at their place. We were also lop-sided. Joyce was used as a sort of right-sided defensive midfielder, which shored up that side, but no-one was doing the same on our left. If Bobby Grant was given that task then he did it ineffectively, but why deploy him in this role? Both Aldershot’s first-half goals came from attacks down the right, and you couldn’t help but think we made it easy for them, and that we hadn’t learned anything from last year when Hudson tore us apart in the first-half. He enjoyed himself again today.

Much better in the second-half from Stanley, more energy and purpose, and helped by an early reply after a bit of a goalmouth scramble. Good chances at both ends, Martin did very well to block an oncoming striker who was through. Stanley came close at the end through Kee, who really made a difference when he came on for McConville. Sean tried hard and showed some nice touches, but still seems a bit lightweight to lead a front line in this division. We must start with Kee. He missed a glorious chance to equalise on the rebound after the keeper had parried his first effort, but it was his pace and strength that had created the chance in the first place. We have some pace and presence up front when he’s on. But we only turned up for 45 minutes today.

Re: Aldershot

The first twenty minutes acci played narrowat the back ie; full backs covering the cb s ,as there two forwards went man for man on cb s ,Aldershot to there credit played also with two wide men, therefore dragging our wide midfielders deep.
The manager seemed to respond to this by pushing the fullbacks out but this in turn requires a disiplined holding midfielder,
The negative side to this is no cover for the cb s if they get rolled ( 2nd goal) and the holding midfielder should screen them ( there midfielder scored two from 20-25 yards )
Acci should defo got something from the game and some of there football was measured attractive to watch.
But as the saying goes goals win matches, they will play worse and win this season !

We also had a winger (McConville) playing as a striker. It wouldn't be Coley if he didn't play players out of position. It's been happening for years. He has to accommodate his favourites - Procy, Mully, and Grant.
