£1.2 Million Ground Development

Interesting news...

Accrington Stanley set for £1.2m ground development (From Lancashire Telegraph)

IF it happens, who reckons we should have the Coppice End for us lot?

Re: £1.2 Million Ground Development

I was up at the ground earlier this week and noticed the area behind the whinney hill terrace has been flattened. Trees bushes and long grass are all gone. Would imagine this is possible preparation of any ground development but it is more likely (in the short term at least) to be so the ball boys can find any balls that go over easily and we won't be losing so many anymore!!!

Re: £1.2 Million Ground Development

Sounds good anyhow cheers for the link, Wynonie

Re: £1.2 Million Ground Development

I think the people who have spent months preparing this plan (and the relevant funding) would have more idea about the potential cost than somebody 'thinking' it would cost more!

From what I can gather about this idea, the new stand would have some sort of facilities built into it that would enable us to start gathering income as well. Phase 1 of The Dons plans are beginning to take shape ......

Re: £1.2 Million Ground Development

Good News :)

Maybe they should fully seat the Clayton and remove the seats on the Whinney Hill and let us have the full Whinney and Coppice. For large followings they can have full Whinney Hill aswell, selling the £15 seats first though:p

Really positive news, this. Let's hope it becomes a reality. :)

Fingers crossed we get both the funding and the planning permission, as it makes for very good reading! Also,if as Macca says,we can 'out-source' units within the new build, just think of the income potential :):):)

Somehow, I don't think planning permission will be too much of a problem especially for the control room. Could it be a complete new stand with built in units on the Whinney Hill side including changing rooms and control room and food outlets? Roofing the Clayton end should cost much over 1/4 million leaving just shy of 1 million for the new stand! Will leave our facilities in a much healthier state than they are at present. Making the Clayton end as the away end seems like an excellent idea as well allowing the Ultras and home fans to stand in the home (Coppice) end. Would even allow for some room to develop the changing room corner for disabled? Could even take the ground capacity up to nearer 6,500 not that we need it yet, but can you imagine the first capacity crowd we get. The thought fills me with excitement - better facilities = bigger crowds.

What are the odds that the livingtsone Road dwellers try to put the mockers on this? (Kisser and family excepted of course!!!)

For me they haven't got a leg to stand on as it will significantly improve their veiw in my opinion!!!

fatgaz182 29-08-2009 09:41

Re: £1.2 Million Ground Development

I don't see why they would Sparkie:confused:

The ground is surround by trees on that side, its not like its gonna end up like this?

As for the new estate, Its simply a case of we was here before you!!:D

(I wonder what that ladder is for??)

Re: £1.2 Million Ground Development

ah didn't realise Kisser!!! No Ozzy it isnt gonna be like Goodison but if they're gonna moan about a single portacabin control room what are they gonna say about a full stand with a roof? Stands to reason they're gonna kick off coz it means theres something to feel important about in their sad little existance!!!

Re: £1.2 Million Ground Development

When I went up to the club yesterday I noticed the house on the corner of Livi Rd had scaffolding all round it - think we should complain, after all if they stand on it they'll be able to see into the ground & watch the game for free :)

Sparkie it wasn't me who mentioned Goodison or put the picture up, but I believe the stand will replace the cow shed, so Livingstone Roaders will have nowt to complain about, apart from the construction traffic, mud on the road, noise during the day, building work, etc etc etc. Big IF the changing rooms and the control room go over that side, then it will be the dwellers on the Whinney Hill estate that will moan, coz they cannot see the game anymore :D

Re: £1.2 Million Ground Development

just to bring this back up because I read on some other forum that this was to blame!

This development WILL be going ahead (assuming we win the taxman fight) regardless. The money is not being stumped up by the club. 50% of the money is from the Football Foundation and 50% from the Legge (sp?) Project which is some sort of rejuvenation thing.

Plans need to be sent in by the end of this month for ratification. Once that is done the money is sorted and the development will begin after the final game of the season.

Just thought that I would bring this back, whilst we are fighting to save our club, we must not forget the day to day things. There are people from the club that read/post on this Forum, a question:- It was stated at the "Fans Forum" that plans were all but done and had to be in by the end of the month, how are we doing with this??? :)

The work, which is also likely to involve the installation of a suite that would benefit the community throughout the week,

So is it a 3-piece or a 2-piece? Will people have to take turns to sit on it and watch the telly? Will we be allowed to eat pizza on it, or will we have to go and sit at the table?

We were told at the Fans Forum that to get the LEGI grant the plans had to be submitted by the end of September so we had better get a move on.

The same "it will not cost the club a penny" assurance was repeated in the Telegraph: Stanley ground plans to go ahead (From Lancashire Telegraph)

Now let's look at what Shurm was told in person today ('Meeting Mr O'Neill and Rob' thread):

Hmmm I've been thinking about this it was Mr O'Neill I was talking to about this. The money is some sort of grant but I think they obviously want you to show some commitment as well but I suppose if Stanley say well we've knocked down the old terrace and levelled this land and that would have cost xyz maybe that counts instead of actually saying well here's a load of cash we have as well ???
