Statement from ASSF

ASSF Chairman Peter Shaw has asked me to post the following statement which has been sent to the various media outlets around town

STATEMENT FROM ACCRINGTON STANLEY SUPPORTERS' FUND LTD

Our organisation is delighted that Accrington Stanley Football Club have been granted, in the High Court, eight weeks in which to pay £308,000 of outstanding unpaid tax to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs, rather than an immediate winding up order.
We gave to the Club, ahead of the hearing, an offer in writing of substantial financial assistance which would help them meet these tax liabilities.
Conditional to this was that the Club would answer 'due diligence' questions, and the Directors move to make a script share offer which the Supporters' Fund would underwrite.
This offer remains on the table.
The Supporters' Fund is committed to helping Accrington Stanley stay as a successful team within the Football League.

Rob actually states: "The club have not dismissed this offer out of hand, indeed it may still transpire as an option for Accrington Stanley in the future."

Both the statements from Rob and from Peter Shaw are the same as the interviews I heard on the radio yesterday.

Does "due diligence" include ensuring that a vitally important payment to the HMRC which was loaned to the club for that purpose in a blaze of publicity is paid?

Tough...falied at the first hurdle.
