Congratulations on the win Stanley. P.S. can we give John Mullin a new job as radio commentator please, 2nd time he's done it (Oldham on Tuesday with Dan the man) and today with Radio Lancs. We keep winning when he is there.
P.P.S. Is this a cue for a winning team? Same as Tuesday night I believe! Keep it up John, tha's goin' up in me estimations lad.

Re: Bury match thread

Gutsy performance from the team. To be honest, we have played better and got nowt, but who cares. Defence well on top throughout. I'm not Bobby Grant's biggest fan but he played well today, and with a lot of "bottle" up against the huge defender Futcher. He took his goals brilliantly and linked up well with Symes down the middle, where he looks better than on the wing.
I'll crack open the bottle of wine now.:D

just back from game and must say some of the football was a joy to watch.Acci dominated the game and made bury look very average.
Solid throughout the team and another inspired decision to play grant up front who was outstanding.
Went with a mate who normally watches prem football and he couldnt believe the quality of acci s football.
Also have to mention the players reactions on scoring, you would have thought it was a world cup final ! great team spirit on show

Thanks Ozzy, wasn't going to tune in as it isn't mentioned in the Observer's TV listings. How odd.

What colour did we play in today??

Tin Monkey 05-09-2009 21:02

Re: Bury match thread

We played in yellow.

We fought really hard today and although we were up against it at times (Edwards clearing off the line again), it always looked likely we could pinch it.

K.S.H 05-09-2009 21:04

Re: Bury match thread

Talking of colours, surprised they allowed Bavs to play in blue, you struggled to pick him out from the Bury players in the 2nd half

VALAIRIAN 05-09-2009 21:07

Thanks for the colour update gents :) Love the tickerfactory thing K.S.H.
P.S. Nice to meet up with you last night.

Re: Bury match thread

Laugh of the day today was a Bury fan walking home, looked really depressed, head down, sulk on, then our coach passed him and and started a bit of banter, he replied with the V sign, head down and walked on, coach caught up, same again, and again.
He's had enough of that so he turned down one of the side streets, we lost him
OR did we?
he had decided to walk along the back alley, we're stuck in traffic during all this, anyway we get to the next street and there he is walking across, more banter, more V signs returned, we get to the next street there he goes again, next street what a surprise he's there again, get to the next one - no sign of him, coach driver waits for a few mins then all of a sudden he pops his head round the corner, peeping to see if the coach was there - classic, we didn't see him again after that

Best sight of the day for me (apart from Granty's goals) was the attractive young lady bucket collector with very short skirt and fishnet stockings. Best-looking SOS collector there (sorry, Ken). ;)

Was having a smoke outside of their club shop...after dropping some money in the bucket when I noticed that lass !!! What a pair of pins !!!

Solid performance from Stanley.... never gave them any time on the ball...defended absolutely solidly and good for Bobby to notch twice...Symes should 'ave notched before that but, thankfully, that miss never mattered !!!

Double edged sword though.... after beating Bury on their own patch....how many Shaker's fans on the Crown on Friday against Darlo???
Hope it hasn't turned them against it !!!!

From what I heard they seem to have a bit more about them..(some would call it inter-club integrity !)...than that Carpon !!.

It's all of those good citizens of Hyndburn and it's surrounds who we need to turn up in t'Stanley's hour of need..but probably won't !, that I'm worried about!.

Hope that 'the Sword' ( borrowed from Damocles?) doesn't have the positive and negative edge you fear..but rather a point which will prick the collective conscience of 'the people'...and urge them into action !.

ps...(Alfred.E.'s message to all today is...'just remember my world-famous watchword!!.....so all together now!....'WHAT ME WORRY !')

'ON STANLEY!!...ON!!

.

Dont worry mate that results made me more determined to go Friday and show what we are made of. Ive not had one person say theyve chnaged their mind and Ill be pushing it agains all this week.

yes Im gutted about our start to the season but Friday is more important than any football result.

Surely our stewards could be briefed to let Bury fans in the home sections - might even fill the Clayton End seats that way! :D (or are you thinking Stanley numbers will be way up too?)

400 seats sold on friday, 250-500 Bury expected, 300-400 ish Darlo expected, usual 1200 Stanley fans, 200-300 various fans from around Lancashire and slightly further afield (Morecambe, Oldham, Port Vale have already expressed an interest) so 3000 is on the cards BEFORE Accrington hopefully wakes up and rallies around.

I so hope the club gets this right, they must have contingencies in place for the amount of fans & well wishers that will hopefully turn out

Would be nice to see the Whinney Hill stand opened for this match, so lets hope the club get the necessary permissions from whomever to use it. Could be bumper night all round for the club and the team.
