to be fair rovers have helped quite a lot over the closed season and I am sure they will help out more over the next few weeks

To be fair I don't think you should expect any club to 'do their bit' . If another club helps out then it's a bonus but there should be no 'expecting' of it.

Stanley have fostered some great links with Rovers and Burnley over the past 5 years and I am sure this will continue

Whether Blackburn Rovers as a Club make any sort of supportive gesture is entirely up to their conscience OzM...
As to the many fans of 'The Blues' who will empathize with the feelings of the Management,Players and Fans of OUR Club in it's difficulties, I am more than certain that they will, in their concern make every effort to demonstrate their support in a tangible way !!.

They will be made very welcome on Turf Moor tomorrow night , and at the Darlo Match on Friday!!..as will all those who make their particular effort to 'Save our Stanley'!!.

Hope that you'll be there as well !! shouting 'ON STANLEY...ON!!!'

i think the other thing to be careful of is insulting people/clubs to the point where they will certainly not help us. By all means ask but under no circumstances insult folk for not doing

As a life long Rover, I think I'm doing my bit, I've sent a donation, am sponsoring the Rochdale walk and will be wearing a save our Stanley T'shirt this weekend hopefully, and If I have any spare cash knocking about later on I'll make another donation, Dave was right, you could actually say why don't United, City, Liverpool, with all their wealth, chip in, because it would set a dangerous precedent, its up to the individual fans not the clubs to help

Perhaps Burnley are trying to do amends as it was Bob Lord who sent Stanley out of the league so many years ago. I did go to a game at Rovers a good few years ago (Centenary match?)which benefited Stanley when Stanley where not in the major public interest.
Rovers have helped Stanley on many occasions, Burnley are just in this for the publicity.

It's a bit like asking Tesco to sponsor a local shop. Would be great if they didn't run them out of business but on the other hand, why would they support them?

As for individual supporters that's a different thing and many, I'm sure will be pitching in.

I thought the notion that Bob Lord was responsible for Stanley going out of the league went out of the window a long time ago.

I'm no great Burnley fan, but I think that what happened in 1962 shouldn't after all this time be laid at Burnley's door.

We should welcome the fact that Burnley are willing to help Stanley out in whatever way they can.

that is a real dumb thing to say n i was a rover since 62,i was stanley before that n everyone who was knows the score at that time, BURNLEY deserve Great Credit n whatever is raised tonight will be a great help, try thinking before opening yer gob, this is to SERIOUS to bitch about.:(

I’m not the one who started this thread complaining that Rovers have done nothing. Just stating that they have helped Stanley in the past.
Blame Ozmainia for his pathetic jib at Rovers.
As for taking part in helping stanley – I have done in the past, present and hopefully, future.

I would love my club to play a friendly for your benefit - where you keep all the profit. But, it's also not our duty; the town of Accrington should be supporting the club - not fans from other towns.

We're having collection boxes at the game on Saturday though. So that should raise a few quid.

The vast majority of Stanley fans realise that it's not your's or any other club's duty. As has been said again and again, any help is a favour, not an obligation.

without rovers help over the years things would have been even harder than they have been of that there is no doubt.

as for the town supporting accy this is also true but Accrington also goes some way to support Burnley and Rovers as a shed load of folk support one or the other and live within the Hyndburn boundary

thats true loweiy but i think many of em went oer in 62, i did n like others took me son n so it goes on,its n old chestnut of mine, but my theory has always been target the kids/schools, now they are finally doing that, i'm sure stanley will benefit in the long run.:);)
