SOS Event Legends v Ultras Sun 25th Oct

Stanley Ultras have organised an event at the Crown Ground on Sunday 25th October.

A team of Accrington Stanley Legends will compete against the Stanley Ultras Fans Team on the Famous Turf all in aid of the SOS Appeal. Legends will be confirmed in due course but we have a comprehensive "wanted" list being drawn up at the mo....

Its on sunday the 25th of October, playing at accrington stanley, 1pm kick off. Cost is £5 Adults £1 Under 16's, you can pay on the day but tickets have been printed so it would be prefered if you bought in adavance. There will be a 50/50 draw, bar will be open, programmes avail & it should be a good day everyone's welcome.

All procedes go to the SOS (Save Our Stanley) Fund. The Ultras Squad have already committed to selling 160 tickets @ £5 to family, WAG's & friends etc & so this event has raised, on paper, £800 so far.......

Thinking about it, perhaps Marcelle could induce some of these premiership players she knows to come along for this one? After all, it's Sunday, no match (for most of 'em). Could certainly add to the appeal of the day. How about it, Marcelle?

Apparently, he flittered around at Brackley, Corby and Bromsgrove before going off to play in Australia. So, if the SOS can stump up the air fare... :)

While Googling, I came across this nugget from Woking's site:
The first murmurings of unrest surrounding Club record signing, Justin Jackson, had also begun. Jackson - in recent years accused of general loutish dimwittery after his move down South - was clearly disliked by his colleagues, a fact openly demonstrated at Rushden weeks later.

I still can't forgive him for spoiling the video of Goucky's goal celebrations against Huddersfield!

You're right. From the Lancaster Guardian in July:

One player who will not be joining up with City is former Morecambe striker Justin Jackson. The veteran goal-scorer had been training with the Dolly Blues however injury has put paid to his move.

Hesketh said: "Justin has tendonitis and since he has signed up to play football in Australia in the winter neither party wanted to risk it."

Unfortunately, Jeff Winter is unavailable to referee our game versus the Legends. Huge respect to him for actually taking the time to reply to my email.:)

Hear is what he replied with;

Quote:

Hi Ashley,

First of all sorry for not replying earlier, I have had a manic few days
with Dinners and going to Glasgow to watch Rangers get hammered last night.
I am sure that you have been too excited waiting for my response!!!! I was
at AS for the Darlo game a couple of weeks ago and you might have seen on my
site spoke highly of the support for your club in its hour of need.
Unfortunately I am again up in Scotland that day so I cannot help. If you
think I can do anything else to assist please do not hesitate to contact me.

I sincerely hope that the club survives, best wishes to all of you AS fans,
even if you still don't like me!!

Best Wishes

Jeff

Thought todays game was great fun, the Ultras certainly held thier own against a huge amount of talent on display. Who was that first keeper?............He was simply awesome in the first 30 mins, made at least 4 top drawer saves imho.

The best part for me was Willie Millers face after He megged Jimmy Bell........excellent and well done Jase!!

The scoreline really didnt do the boys (ultras) justice, but I guess it was allways on the cards.

No matter, it was a fun afternoon, so well done to all that organised it.

No, I had a pocket full of cash to buy a shirt but the price went too high. Another had a reserve price which wasn't fair I would have liked to bid on that one, never mind I had fun with the mancs. A bit too much fun to be honest I really had them after my blood, who let all the mancs in anyway?

The 3 that sold prior all went for good money & to fans who have done a lot for the SOS appeal.

I was well pleased they went for the prices bid, nice shirts and congratulations to the auction winners.:)

me too,

I expected some to go for good money but thought that many would go for next to nowt.

So although I am gutted that I didnt get there and bid, I am well pleased that they all went for good money. And probably more than I would have bid anyway.

I believe that Jake (regular drummer) organised the majority of this and it is scarce taht individuals get credit where it is deserved - but BIG wel done to Jake, and everyone who helped him, for what has turned out to be a massive chunk of fundraising.

hat off to youse all
