O'Neil Where Are You ?
Well Ilyas has been on the radio tonight to put his views across but where were you ? Hiding behind Rob Heys you don't even have the decency to come on the radio and explain to the fans and people of Accrington what your up to or back up your comments in the programme from Friday night.
You have only been in charge a short time but just what have you done for the club apart from ask the people of Accrington to bail you out ? If you didn't or don't have the money to help the club why the hell did you want it so much ? And now you don't want to part with it even though people in the wings have the money to save it, your just selfish if you ask me and I really hope your not the one to blame for bringing the club down a second time. No doubt I won't hear anything like everyone else asking questions. |
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
Don't hold your breath Shurm, our idea of transparency and his idea seem to be different concepts!
|
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
Rob did say that the directors would be putting 120k possibly more into the fund, that is the answer we are all looking for isn't it?
|
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
If you listen to what rob said, He did say that it took time for people at the club to come up with money because " time to sort it with the bank, and funds should be available in a couple of weeks" ??????????????????????
That sounds like DEBT to pay of DEBT to me.......... NOT WISE |
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
Likely not that will be answered on the forum, but hoped that an opology on the fishy site would of been a start imho. Rob was quite right that he couldn't do it really altho on 3rd party basis and suppose don's avoidance to dig further holes in the firing line in self preservation, again only in my opinion as to why. But least he needs to now get the club in order or least talk properly to the assf if its too big a hole, needs to start now and of course repair the severed veins of the generous public and supporters and its apparent what needs to be answered, we shall wait and see if its possible and an outcome is forthcoming very soon.

Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
If you have ever tried drawing more than £1200 out of the bank at any onetime you will realise its actually quite hard to get your hands on your own savings. It would take 100 days to get the £120K :-)

Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
If you r someone else involved wirh the running of the club mr o neil read these comments on here the people do not trust you why wont you talk to Ilyas and the ASSF sort it out before it is to late

Anyway who said anything about money ? I want him to answer to the people of Accrington he's the Chairman where is he and what has he got to say apart from rubbish in the programme ? I'm not bothered about money I want the chairman to speak to people and tell the town what he is doing with our Town Team because as far as I can see he thinks it's his club to do what he wants with without telling us anything. |
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
Dan said he would give the club the transcript of all the q's read and un read to them so would gather they'd know anyway lol.

Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
One thing now thats a huge concern is the sos fund public donations and fund raising will now be directly effected !!

No !!..I have another comment....If you, the directors of the Club want at last to do the right thing...then pay this 'Stanley-saving' gift from your hearts into the SOS ..TOMORROW Morning...and let it be seen in a statement for all!!.. this assurance will not only fulfil the gestures intended goal...but just might go some way to convince us all that the Club's future is in safe hands !. No...I have another comment....I am not holding my breath though !! ' Cry...my beloved Stanley!!! |
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
Out of curioisty, is the 120k being matched by the ASSF, or is it 60k being matched by the ASSF ? If it's the former that would make 240k, add that to 80k and the debt is paid is it not ?

Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
Can anyone tell me what was said by Rob and Ilyas as i missed it on 2br?
|
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
Not sure if Hasyred is asking me if I am involved with running the club but the answer is no.
I have no axe to grind with either party, I think that Ilyas's gesture is very noble and it would be nice if the club would accept his offer of help as we could all get on with the business of worrying about the results on the field, but they haven't accepted yet for their own reasons. I have listen to both Rob and Ilyas on the radio tonight, Rob has explained that David O'Neill's comments were borne out of frustration - he has put alot of money into the club and still his commitment is being questioned, I am sure I'd be a bit peeved in that situation. Ilyas too is frustrated because he is offering to help the club but as of yet there has been no up take of this offer. I do know that the club is a business that puts a lot of demands on its employee's time even without the strains of the current crisis as a result I doubt there is little time at the ideal time of the day to start going into the finer points of the running of the club or the fund raising. Maybe they realised that collecting funds in such a short space of time would always be difficult and thus are spending time finding ways of raising the sums of money required in the time scale. One thing is certain the split between all the interested parties will do Accrington Stanley no favours in the short and long term. For God's sake bite your tongues and concentrate on getting the club out of the current crisis. This is a time for forming alliances not factions, let's stick together and see this through:mosher: |

To be honest I think he is simply a bloke who was in the wrong place at the wrong time and must now be wondering what the hell he has got himself into - he isn't blessed the Google Page Ranking skills of some others, hell he isn't blessed with the Google Page Ranking skills of a pickle but he has put a lot of money into the club and that should be appreciated. I hope he hands over to the ASSF soon and in 12 months when we're safe and the future is bright the public will look back and thank him for what he has done right rather than what he has done wrong. |
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
[quote=yonmon;749257]My only comment is ...Why didn't they do this as soon as the HMRC 'Emergency' presented itself????.....If they've got £100K+ secreted away somewhere in their joint Coffer...why hide it from everyone for so long???...Just think what a gesture it would have been to all who want to see the survival of the club assured !....just think what a powerful motivator it would have been to the Fundraising efforts...
As far as I am aware nobody involved in the club has that kind of wealth easily at their disposal. I don't know that for a fact but common sense tells me I am probably right. Let's face it selling the family silver takes time. Blimey it takes the insurance company two months to send a bloody cheque when an endowment policy matures and that is when they have known it was coming for the previous 10 years:). Consequently, to promise you will stump up funds before you know how much you will be able to raise would be folly. Maybe if they'd have told the tax man they had a third of money available he'd have cut his losses taken the £120k and wound up the club :hitting8: |
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
Well he has done b@@@@R all yet and time is running out.
Is it me or what, but if I was the Chairman at this moment I'd be on the front page of the Observer every week, on the pitch at half time thanking people for their donations and help, on here drumming up support and generally being in the public eye doing everything I could to save the club and keep myself at the helm. I get the impression he just watches the money roll in and thinks well thats a bit less I have to stump up. Sorry sat on fence too long its a joke. |
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
I don’t recall Rob saying that the club was taking out a loan to pay into the fund; I understood it to mean that three of them where putting in between them a total of £100 to £120k. I took that to mean that they where each taking personal responsibility for there individual contribution, i.e. they are taking out loans personally to input in to the fund, not the club taking on debt. Also conceder this, no Bank will give that sort of loan to the club, we have a CCJ registered against us and a winding up order that will take effect within a couple of weeks if this doesn’t come off.
I think its going to be their personal debt and for that if true, they should at least have the right to be given a chance, if not respected. If this is personal loans and it goes tits up it’s possibly their homes on the line. |

Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
I believe he's on holiday or just got back, alright for some! While he has all his mugs collecting money for him! He doesn't deserve the fans or the club!!! If he doesn't want to pay out of his own pocket he should give up his shares to the ASSF, so the people that really care for the club will take care of it and not use it for an ego trip.
O'Neil doesn't want to be transparent because we will see him for the liar he is!!! Lets hope he takes the hint sooner rather than later. |
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
Let's not forget that what really needed to happen is that crowds needed to be bigger, proper money through the door and not perrenial hand outs . For the last two home games that has happened. The crisis galvanised fans of all clubs in a bid to help one of their own. People from the Accrington Stanley catchment area have started to watch us again, some haven't been for years or never been at all before, but now they are saying they will come regularly. We need to show a combined effort in this situation if we are to be sure that we don't put people off coming. It would be tragic if these new friends of the club where to stay away because of ill feeling towards the club they have been asked to support.

We also have to consider that avenue as well, if they fail to raise the funds and they rule out working with the ASSF, they may well find themselves unemployed. I’m sad that many at the club feel let down by our criticism of the in action that with believe we’ve seen; I think it’s true to say that out right leadership as failed to materialise; but maybe it’s an adjustment issue. The club and its employees have been use to many years of Eric’s rule and none of them have been off the lead so to speak, even Mr. O’Neil will have become accustomed to doing as he’s told in the short he’s been there. At the end of the day the only solution is a joint one; work together, resolve personal issues; if not then the two main protagonists retire from the front line and take honorary positions and let the club and the ASSF come together and take us forward. |

Ill feeling !!!! I'm sure more people would come if they knew it was being run properly with input from the fans and people that really cared for the club instead of some Chairman that appears to stick two fingers up at you all. Yes we all need to rally round but not round this regime its not up front and doesn't deserve or appreciate the money your giving it. |
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?

Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
Surely it is the football club we are supporting not the regime. I think the regime at Burnley FC is a good one but I am not going to watch football at Turf Moor because Barry Kilby seems like a decent chap. If I do not support Accrington Stanley Football Club by attending games and donating what I can then the club will be no more :(. With this current disaffection I am afraid we run the risk of Stanley fans losing Accrington Stanley FC 1968 plc and being left with ASSF FC to support in the North West Counties. Divided we fall, united we stand.

You know what i'm saying I'm just fed up listening to people say let's all pull together and don't say anything or rock the boat ... Why ? Because it suits the club ? Well it's tough they want money then we should have answers and at least an explanation from the man at the top what's happening. Sounds fair to me you can't keep expecting people to give blindly forever. |

Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
todays Telegraph
Dave O'Neil is meeting with Ilyas! today! but "doesn't really know what he wants" "i don't know why he's picking me out" "we're going to launch things in the next few days which we think will raise substantial amounts of money" The article goes on to say that although Eric Whalley's resignation was registered at companies house O'neil is still not the official owner - although "we expect that to happen in the next few days" deja vu? i'll post a link when i've got more time |
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
Obviously, not only did he not want to talk on 2BR last night - he didn't want to listen either, everyone who did listen would know exactly what Ilyas wants, the club to survive!

Well I've been invited to the club today to meet Mr O'Neil and Rob Heys later this afternoon just awaiting confirmation on time.
Not going with a list of questions just want to talk to them and understand how they think acting as they are is in the best interest of the club and fundraising efforts, people want feedback and answers. I appreciate the opportunity if it happens. |
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
Just read that article is he in London (Oneil) Well maybe I won't be seeing him then
Well I suppose Mr Khan is a bit more important or maybe they were just calling my bluff but Rob invited me last night to see them both late in the afternoon today which I accepted. |
Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
The two Americans who bought Liverpool FC.,raised the money, then transferred the debt from themselves to the club itself. I think Man. United are one of the richest clubs in the world, but also are in the most debt. If the debt can be managed by the club,I suppose thats the way business works.

Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
WOW if YOU think Dave is ok then YOU will tell Accrington how good he is whoopee!!!! then he must be ok if YOU say so!!! i have met him and Ilyas listened to both arguments and still not sure ! im sure everyone will have their own opinion!!!!

Re: O'Neil Where Are You ?
Guys
THERE IS NO MEETING WITH ONEIL TODAY. IT IS A FIGMENT OF HIS VERY ACTIVE IMAGINATION. Since this article appeared, i have had so many texts and emials i thought i better put the record straight. i have no idea why Mr Oneil thinks he is meeting me. At no point in the past few weeks have i had any contact with oneil. Other than his delightful programme note from last friday, that were a joy to read, I have no contact with the supposed majority shareholder of asfc. I have sent messages to the club addressed to him, both directly and through the ASSF. I have'nt a clue as to why he would say he has a meeting with me today. And i am very sorry that this is simply further evidence of the way in which he seems to conduct himself. The last contact I had was with his ceo Rob Heys, which was an email on MOnday which I replied to by asking him to always copy someone else on the email so there was a third person (independent) to verify what was being said. This was to ensure that we dont have a re-run of the past when things are said that prove later to be untrue or inaccurate. i have not heard back from him since. For the record, therefore, i have no idea why oneil thinks he is meeting with me today. i have not had a request for a meeting, and moreover, if asked, I would be delighted to meet anyone who might help with the future of the club. i will finish on a positive note - i do hope that the directors raise money from their own pocket. Better late than never. lets get this debt repaid, lets get the team saved. and then lets turn our attention to other matters. |
