Who could blame him?
From Bulls news:-
Accrington have only paid half the wages due to their players for September. Boss John Coleman is being linked to the Tranmere job that John Barnes is rapidly failing at. Blackburn have agreed to play a friendly at the Crown Ground next Tuesday as a fundraiser for the club. |
Re: Who could blame him?
Posted via Mobile Device Please NO. That is unthinkable.
Can we please have a P.T.P.F. Pay the players fund ? |

If it is true, WHY have they not been paid? Let's not forget their achievements collectively and individually. Two players in the League Two Team of the Week; Ian Dunbavin selected as the League Two Player of the Weekend in one newspaper. Come on, Mr O'Neill. It's not only the tax problem, is it? Get Ilyas Khan on board NOW or go NOW. If it is not true that the players have not been paid, then end the rumour immediately. |
Re: Who could blame him?
The wages issue was subject of a story in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph on Tuesday:
Accrington Stanley v Shrewsbury preview: Captain shrugs off wage delay 10:23am Tuesday 6th October 2009 ACCRINGTON Stanley captain Andy Procter insists the squad are focused on results rather than unpaid wages ahead of tonight’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy second round tie at home to Shrewsbury. The Stanley squad go into the game, which kicks off at the earlier time of 7pm to encourage families to attend, having still not received half of their money for September but Procter says they are instead concentrating all their thoughts on a return to form after Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Chesterfield in League Two. Stanley won four of their six games last month – including a 5-3 win over Crewe in their last home game – so Procter is now targeting another run of results to help the club progress in the trophy and also prevent their league standing slipping lower than their current position of 14th. On the subject of the wages, which were due to be paid last Wednesday, he said: “The lads have received half the money and the rest is supposed to be going in on Sunday. “But that’s not an issue, none of the boys even mentioned it before Saturday’s game. “To be honest there’s not too much the players can do about it apart from put performances in on the pitch and try to get fans through the gates." |

Thanks for that, Devon. So it is true, then.

Re: Who could blame him?
It's not really a surprise. Once a winding-up order has been issued against a company, then all of it's bank accounts are frozen; No one - and that includes employees as well as trade creditors - can be paid from those accounts. Quite simply, HMRC have first call on whatever dosh is in the bank. Once arrangements have been made via the bank and the courts to pay off the debt due to HMRC and that transaction occurs, can the accounts be unfrozen.
I would guess that the players will be paid from another source and that payment would be treated as a temporary loan. |

Re: Who could blame him?
Perhaps they have agreed to reduced wages until the debt is paid off,as if it isn't ,they will all be looking for clubs!!!!! /employment.
I wish people would put the same energy into raising the funds required as they do into slagging various people off and stirring things up. As,has been said before, lets get HMRC off our back. |

Get real. The supporters are NEVER going to raise the funds required although they have done a fantastic job in the last five weeks. Over £200,000 has to be raised in 17 days. That's almost £12,000 per day. Quote:

Re: Who could blame him?
most players have received half of there money and some none ! that is a fact.
The players dont seem to mind and are just concentrating on 3 points at the weekend |

I don't know of any banking transactions with a value date on a sunday so I can only assume they will be receiving a cheque from another source on that date. The alternative, of course, is that the source is gate money paid in cash. We can only hope, therefore that no one from HMRC will have seen Proccy's comments because I doubt if they will be too amused by such a scenario. Anyway, who knows what the hell is going on with all this sorry saga. |

Re: Who could blame him?
Think that anybody who comes into contact with Coley and Belly tomorrow, must tell them how important they are to the club, would also like to think that The Ultras, will make an extra special effort to let them know as well :theband: :wave8: :wave8: :theband: :)

Good plan Valairian. :) |
Re: Who could blame him?
One assumes that Coley at least knows what is going on about the debt repayment. Surely the non-villainous (and totally vacuous) co-chairpersons will keep him informed.
I'm pretty sure that Coley will be on the Tranmere wanted list and could be offered the job. If he stays with us, maybe that would give us mere hoi polloi some confidence that the DON will have things sorted. |

Re: Who could blame him?
If Coley was offered the Liverpool job he would definatly take it.
He was spotted with a few cans on the Liverpool fans coach coming back from chelsea on sunday. |
Re: Who could blame him?
BTW,
there is a tranmere show on city talk fm from 8.30 tonight. I doubt coleman will be 1st choice. A significant number of the fans want Paul Jewell to take charge. |
Re: Who could blame him?
If he /they get offered the job, they would be mugs not to take it. Would any of you wish to work for O'Niel and Lazaraus? Personally, i wouldn't p*** on them if they were on fire .

Re: Who could blame him?
Having been a supporter of Accrington Stanley since 1997 I've been brought up in the modern 'Coleman & Bell' era.
These two gentlemen are primarily responsible for Stanley's achievements on the pitch, and many others are to be thanked for their own phenomenal achievements off the pitch. Neither John nor Jimmy are fools, so I imagine that they would have been somewhat circumspect in signing a new contract prior to this season. Perhaps their contract/s contain provisional clauses, as most do. Perhaps they have, built into their contracts, permission to talk to other clubs. [Remember, these contracts would have been negotiated at a difficult time, and there is little doubt that Tranmere Rovers were already sniffing around but had to settle for Barnes and McAteer] My point is that we've had a wonderful time with these two giants of football, and it's only right that we now hand them full rein for their future instead of holding them hostage to our past. If that's what they want, of course. Be gracious. Be kind. Be glad for them if they choose to go. And, above all, remember that their departure wil not decide the fate of Accrington Stanley. |
