taxman paid tuesday 27th October

according to O'Neil in todays Telegraph (link not yet on)

apparently we weren't quite there yet because somebody had offered us £25k but then let us down but the money should be sorted in time for a bank transfer tomorrow.

but its over, almost.

Ilyas is not involved

I would like to congratulate Mr. O’Neil, Mr. Hays and the board for the successful conclusion to this situation. You give your word and kept it. Thank you.

I would ask Mr. O’Neil to be clear and concise about the future of fundraising at Stanley and how best we can work with the club to avoid such dark and dismal events occurring again.

Re: taxman paid tuesday 27th October

dont start the party too soon

in LT it says the following

While the board members all the right noises and insist the bill will be met-albeit with differing levels of confidence-there is a nagging fear that saturdays success at spotland could go down in thr record books as the last game for stanley

another report in LT with walkers pic says

The payment deadline is wednesday and MrO"Neil said the club now had the funds in place

and remember on a scale of one to ten we are at a nine

the saying dont count you chickens till the eggs have hatched comes to mind

Thought my faith reminds strong that ASFC will be safe

I do so hope that O'Neil et all havent 'jumped the gun' on this one...............I am slighlty concerned that such a huge anouncement has not made the front page of the official website..........why not?

O'Neil's track record re the press hasnt exactly been of the truthful variety, so Im afraid I shall believe it when it happens.

I have, however got a rather large piece of 'humble pie' sat in the fridge ready to be eaten...................something I would relish.

Re: taxman paid tuesday 27th October

I won't be eating any humble pie whatsoever I'm afraid.

Whether the bill is paid or not isn't quite irrelevant, but I would like to know at what cost?

Where has the additional money (£192,000 roughly) come from?
What levels of interest are payable?
To whom are the debts payable and have we got a black and white agreement that we have a timescale in which to repay?
How long is the club going to be in hoc for?
When does Mr Whalley get his £150k and be able to transfer ownership of the club to The Don?

We may have seen the wolf banished from the door, but has he just gone for reinforcements?

There was a post a few days ago from "sherry" that went largely unnoticed, however, it has got an element to it that rings true. Many of you will have put the rose-tinteds back on for a short while but that fact remains that this campaign has been run like a dogs-dick. So many failings, so many lies and untruths. What is left of the club as far as the community is concerned? How long will it take us to rebuild our shattered public image? Will the fans - let alone the wider 'floating' public evcer trust us again?

Only time will tell. I dont really want to come across as the voice of doom at what could be a positive time for us, but I personally dont think that this everything is as rosy as we might be led to believe.

If the £192k has been borrowed then you can lump that onto the £150k that we owe Whalley. So we owe £342k at this moment in time and that is before you add the £100k or so that we keep saying is just month to month stuff, and that is before you add on any current outstanding debts to the Inland Revenue.

Mr O'Neil will no doubt clarify things next week at the planned public forum on the 6th November.

Good point Macca.

'd-day'..a one- day only thread !

With a little over two hours to go before a Hanging Judge either puts his Black Cap on his head....OR grants a stay-of-execution to Accrington Stanley....
Here's an opportunity to reveal your innermost thoughts and feelings regarding the bitter-tasting scenario which will be unfolding in the next few-hours, and throughout this fearful day...which No-One hoped would ever come about..!

My earliest thoughts today were with and for John Coleman and the Squad of players who might well be training today to give of their best on Friday Evening at Blundell Park ....what sort of Sword is swinging over their heads ??...

M second collection of thoughts are with and for all those who can remember the last attempted Murder of our great Club, who wouldn't accept this as a finality, and who brought about it's rising from it's ashes to what it is today !..Don't need to name names, but we all know who these past and present stalwarts are!!
I just cannot begin to imagine how they are feeling at this moment..(Which is 07:32 am....The clock is ticking !)..

I could go on and on...and on !!....but I'm sure that anything else I might add will only be mirrored by other postings which mine might generate!..

This emptiness in the pit of my stomach is one that I have not felt for a long time now...and will I fear get worse as the day progresses...

'ON STANLEY!! ..TO EVEN GREATER THINGS !! ON!!.

Many different emotions racing through my mind at the moment, Mr Y. A deep sense of sadness...a yawning pit of empty despair...a horrible sense of deja vu (even though I was only 11 last time it happened)...strong solidarity with my fellow fans...concern for Coley, Jimmy and the lads...but, most of all, burning, righteous anger against those who are mismanaging our club...and, whatever happens today, that last emotion will not go away! :(

I cannot believe that we are now waiting to see if "begging" will save the club. I have been have to "beg" for ASFC during the campaign but now feel extremely disappointed. It is such a sad episode especially after such a great weekend (Dale, Ultras game)

Hopefully, Illyas & Peter Marsden will come up with the reportedly "huge" shortfall & they can guide the club into 2010. Pride & confidence needs to be restored in the suits at the top, if Illyas & Peter save us, then I will be hugely thankful & very proud.

Such a shame we didn't push more for Illyas' plans.... But thats in the past!

It’s a very grim shadow to have hanging over you at the club, not just the managers and playing staff as been said but the lads and lasses who do the day to day tasks; by 11.00 am they could be out of a job as well.

It’s been a **** morning up here; it’s just the feeling of helplessness that’s sickening. I have no doubt now and I am forced to agree that the broom needs sweep hard across the decks if we do by the slightest chance survive; I hope that in the face of defeat that certain people within the club act with honour and resign; only those who are crucial to the day to day management and running of the club should stay on and of those if their hands are stained then they should hope only to leave with dignity at a later date.

What is needed now is a cash transfer into the club’s HMRC account before the case is heard or at least a draft that would be recognised by the court, I’m not sure that anything else would be enough. I pray I’m wrong.

Mr. O’Neil; Please do the dignified thing and resign should the hearing be positive.

I've only followed Stanley for a few seasons. (My wife, who grew up in Accrington, used to go with her family when she was a girl.) But in that short time I've come to love the club - how can you not love a club with such spirit and humour and such a great set of fans? Now, we're season ticket holders and we applied for one of those shares last week.

I barely slept last night and I'm experiencing a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. I can't tell you how angry and worried I am. I will be absolutely gutted if 'the club that wouldn't die' actually does.

I'm supposed to be working but I'm watching this thread with close interest.

:( Hello from "Choirboy". Felt the need to register in order to comment on the plight of our beloved STANLEY. A few questions;
1 Does the club hold AGMs?
2 Do the lesser shareholders ever get a say in what goes on?
3 Do the accounts get audited and presented annually?
4 Do the accounts get submitted to the audit commision?
5 How long have these debts been building up?
6 How has the club management/board allowed this to happen?

Finally a question to Eric Whalley, Dave O'Neill the board and the shareholders;
Q Will there now be full transparency and honesty in saving our club?

Yeah, paid £96k even though we "had" £116k in the sos fund, "possibly" another £10k going in today - don't know where thats from, and £100k going in from PFA.

Bury fan here and first of all well done in getting past today. From reading this messageboard I feel your battle is just beginning but one that you will win. The efforts of your fans cannot be ignored or wasted.

Just thought I would point out the reason why the 100k was not added to the total today.

If indeed the directors etc do have this money they would not have paid it over today whilst there was a shortfall. If you went bust today they would have paid over 100k to the taxman and you would still have gone bust.

So in effect they were prepared to risk your club going bust and the SOS money but not their own money.

Good luck and see you in 2 weeks.

Surely no. 6 should be Mushroom Management
Mushroom management is an allusion to a company's staff being treated like mushrooms: kept in the dark, covered with dung, and – when grown big enough – canned. The connotation is that the management is making decisions without consulting the staff affected by those decisions – and possibly not even informing the staff until well after such decisions are made. For me...at least after 11:00am it just got better and better , culminating with my little chat with Ilyas Khan tonight which, confirming all I had read on our Forum, filled me with absolute delight!!...almost shedding a tear with Stanleymad at the same time!!..

So perhaps it's time for this brief thread to bite the Dust !!...might have served a purpose...I hope so!!..

(Alfred.E. thinks that Ilyas Khan is the Bee's Knees....and is already thinking up our next 'Foray on the Forum'...which should be somewhat lighter following the frenetic machinations of the last week or so !!)

'ON STANLEY!!!..ON !! TO EVEN GREATER THINGS !!'

(From Wikipedia)

For another description try here: mushroom management

Too late to edit it now, but yes I think thats a much better analogy!
