Re: Grimsby Match
A point at Grimsby can be considered a decent result. For the players and the management to stay focused after what as gone on, particular in the last week is remarkable really.

Re: Grimsby Match
all i can say is 1 steward was OTT to say the least!
telling a 9yr old to stay seated if she wanted to remain in the ground 7mins into the match is going way over the top! |

Re: Grimsby Match
We know Coley isn't exactly a model of equanimity during matches, but he really should have a word with Proccy. He was charging around like a maniac after every dubious decision by the ref and running up to him with arms in the air. Eventually the ref had had enough and delivered a stern dressing down. After that Proccy obviously felt he couldn't tackle with his usual, err.......brio, shall we say, and probably should have been substituted.
Funniest moment was when the ref went down like a sack of spuds towards the end, and from all 4 sides of the ground came the chorus "Off, off, off", and the even less helpful " We hope he's dead" from a certain boisterous group. A Grimsby player hadn't read the first aid manual and roughly hauled the ref to his feet, whereapon he promptly collapsed in a heap again. I had a horrible thought that maybe the poor fella had suffered a heart attack, but happily he recovered to resume his fussy routine. Pity he didn't spot Conlan's shove in the back on Kempson as he went up to head the equaliser, though. As we walked back to the car some young home fans pursued us with the Owen Coyle-type chant " Barry Conlan, du-du-di-du" and "2-1 up and you f****d it up". They were right. |
Re: Grimsby Match
Had a superb trip to Grimsby on friday night.
1st time on the coach aswell for a LONG time and really enjoyed it. Without a doubt the best fish & chips ive EVER had at a ground lol. As for the game, we really should have won, just shows how far we have come in my opinion. The ONLY negative from the game i had was Mr Dunbavin im afraid. Hopefully 1st thing once the bill gets paid and the transfer embargo gets lifted is that we get a keeper in (either on loan or signing), as much as i like Dunbavin for his shot stopping ability and passion, his decision making and positioning still leave alot to be desired. All in all, a superb away trip. Tom Lees, seems to get better every game. Gary King looked a real handful and with Miles having a bad back this could be his chance for an extended run in the side. Joyce had his best game of the season so far, ran the show in center mid. 100% commitment again from Jimmy Ryan aswell! |

Re: Grimsby Match
yeh agreed the stewarding was way over the top.
Quite why they feel they need 20 stewards and 3 police with video cameras for all 90 of us is totally beyond me. I really think that so many League 2 ground just arent used to people standing up singing. On Stanley On |
Re: Grimsby Match
What was Dunabavin doing throwing the ball at his own player after the first goal:confused:
We have come a long way this season with a threadbare squad and credit to Coley, Jimmy and the team for staying focussed on the field with everything happening off it, but we really should be holding out against teams like this, I said before the game I would take a point but coming off the ground felt more like a loss as Grimsby were on the rack for long periods (maybe that is a sign of how far I think we have come this season). Thought McConville looked sharp when he came on and maybe a sub to wind the clock down in those five minutes of extra time wouldn't have gone amiss. But it keeps the points tally ticking up |
