I removed it for forum rules reason. It was abusive and with language, there are better ways to get the point across. For reasons i dont want to lose our forum our portal as well as our club. Any issues pm me.

Smudgie mate, its Stanleymads club also.

We are all at our wits end with this whole debacle and none of us really knows whats happening, its all just conjecture and hearsay atm..........with the obvious exception of Ilyas's posts.

I know its much easier said than done, but sleep on it bud and give yourself a little time to calm down just a smidge...........at this time of night nothing else is going to happen.

If a post is breaking the rules then the mods have every right, infact duty to remove it.................it aint personal......................oh and I missed the post also lol.

Its nothing personal or sided davo its not as what u put it this site could be sued or shutdown because people go to far and break the law certainly accusations without proof and i will remove it cos its my duty as mod to do so, the law doesn't exclude internet. Do u want this forum shut down?

DAV007 there are numerous examples of people suing messageboards or posters for inflammatory content. It has to be removed if it accuses someone of something. If it was your board then its up to you whether you run the risk or not, SM is only acting under the wishes of the board owner. We save the rumour mongering for PMS and in the pub :D

Im sorry if you took it personal, but such over the top actions are pathetic IMO.

Im a strong believer in freedom in liberalism in accrington stanley.

If it was opinion and not fact then I understand that you may be concerned regarding slander, but a internet message board is a great place for a bloke/girl to steam off.
I would rather someone lost it on a message board than smacked Oneill/Heys.

I think this is an exceptional circumstance and as a moderator it is not ideal to be so quick to play the judge.

Stanleyleymad is quite right in what he is doing, which is a difficult job in trying and difficult circumstances. I would find it deeply ironic that if, in six months time, certain individuals were to be summoned to the same High Court in London for a civil hearing about libellous comments publically made on here.

Quite so Tealeaf...and as a well-known Male Chauvinist Pig (A title which incidentally, Mrs.Y. has given me permission to use!)...and one who generally tends to shun the prescence of assertive females....I do commend SM on her patience and fortitude...after all gazing at a Monitor Screen, viewing what some contributors think are useful statements to make...and then deciding whether or not they are suitable for innocent eyes to read....cannot be an easy job !!....

Just a quick reply to stanley mad, I accept the story i quoted was only an allegation however i was completely gobsmacked when i heard it? i honestly thought it was relevant in view of the clubs current crisis. I just want to make it clear to everybody that there was no abusive language on my post.

Its because its not fact or opinion its was an allegation that could of caused a legal issue. However should it be provern then could be discussed here hence had to be removed for that reason and yes your post didnt include any bad language of any kind :D

I think it works like this - someone tells you something about somebody else that isn't true and is defamatory - that's a libel (or maybe a slander, I can never remember). You then make a post saying what you were told. You post tells the truth - i.e. it is true you were told what you say you were told, but nonetheless it repeats the false libel - which has now been published. And it's the publisher (Accyweb), not you, who is held legally responsible and can be sued - which is why Accyweb has to have people like Stanleymad doing her thankless job and getting slagged off for doing it properly.

(And the disclaimer in Macca's signature about everything he says being opinion and not necessarily fact is a good line but doesn't change the legal situation or protect Accyweb in the slightest :D)

Now I'll wait for someone who really understands this to put me right :(

Slander is spoken, libel is written/published.

IIRC, in the case of forums both the person who posts the libel, and the forum itself can be sued for libel. In the case of the forum this would depend on whether or not the libel was moderated or not, I think (as a forum taking action to remove a libel is acting in a proper manner, whereas a forum that allows a libel to stay for days, or longer, is doing nothing to prevent it).

Libel is also a very expensive matter; legal aid is not available, and even if you win you still have to pay your costs.
