As far as I know ( having served on two testimonial committee) it is the player and or committee responsibility to sort out the details. All the club can offer is the free use of the ground for a match. Strictly speaking directors and club officials should not be involved at all.
If this is still the case it is a little critical to say it was a poor showing by the club.

Went to Jamie's testimonial Saturday. The `crowd` was embarrassing and there should have been many more there to say goodbye to a great servant of Accrington Stanley football club. Alright, some people may have been on holiday and others unable to attend because of illness but, even so! I hope everyone who couldn't attend for genuine reasons sends £7 to the club marked for Jamie's attention. After all, nobody really goes to see a game in these circumstances. It's to show your appreciation, in financial terms as much as anything, of Jamie's contribution to the club and its development during his time here. I'd gladly have handed over the money and left. Hope there weren't any Everton fans present. I'd say Watson is still a better player now than anyone in his position on their books!

Even though Jamie and whoever? organised it..

Thats not to say the club did nowt....just in case anyone is getting the wrong end of the stick here... everyone involved put there time and resources in for free... it was the opposition etc that was organised by jamie.. everyhting else done by the club.

Unfortunately I think the fact that this game was sandwiched between two big friendlies and as you mentioned it is the middle of Accy holidays all conspired against a bigger turn out for Jamie. You will probably find many folk didn't go because they are actually short of money or their other-halves gave them the stoney cold silent treatment  when mentioning going to three games in five days. Sheer bad timing unfortunately especially when sometimes during the season it can be three weeks between home games and folk are chomping at the bit for some football:idunno: . At least Jamie leaves Accy with something money can't buy and that is LEGENDARY STATUS:bow8: . Idoubt he will ever need to buy his own beer when he visits the Stanley bar for the rest of his days:) .
