Help Needed...........Please!
Hi all,
I know this is not stanley related, but as most of my mates are on here I hope you all dont mind this request for help! I am currently studying for my degree in Music Production, and as part of my course I have to produce a web site. As most of you know I am with The Dirty Hat Band so have decided to make a new site for the band as my 'project'. The site is now uploaded to the web and I really need to get some feed back from you guys. If a few of you would be good enough to pop over and have a look at the site in the next few days and let me have your feedback on the following, I would be most grateful:- 1) Ease of navigation 2) General look of site (fonts, pics etc) 3) Relevancy to the subject 4) Is it informative There is an email link for you to email your replies to me,on the contact page, or if you prefer I can give you my private email address via a pm. I have had a look at your website. Looks Ok however a few observations; The writing might be better in another font as it appears or looks to be stretched. The photo's could do with names underneath them as it looks crowded and that would show them a bit spread out. Also it looks too black and white Sorry do not want to sound too critical. Good luck with your degree. |

I think, Pete, because of the B/W photos, you should have a black background with white text. And larger spacing between the links.

I agree about the stretchiness of the letters. Also, I tried to email you about it but the link didn't seem to work - the email bounced back as undeliverable.

Whatever you do don't use a black background with white text. For a basic website it looks decent, you've avoided making a GeoCities site by a whisker and that is down to your good choice in colour scheme.
Change the link colours so they are black whether they have been visited or not and increase the size of the font of the links so they fit either exactly or just slightly narrower than the picture. Other than the links turn off the caps lock and get rid of the amateurish "CLICK THE LINKS" "CHECK BACK" messages. You shouldn't have to tell the user what to do, it should be intuitive by design. Try using arial as the font(again other than the links and the title which will be fine). And stop making everything bold On your gig guide lose the cell padding on the table and outline on the table so all you see is the text. On your reviews lose the table and instead have it something like "Pete McNaught is back on lead vocals and acoustic guitar and it's as if he hasn't been away after being off the circuit for a number of years...the band sounded as if they had been together for years, not months...superb musicianship...kept the dancers on the floor all night ... It is certainly good to have this band back on the circuit" - Pathfinder, Fort San Atone - April 2009 On your contact page you wrote mailto:mailto: so you need to go back and change that to just mailto: that will sort out the errors people are having sending you messages Get rid of the outline to the pictures on the biographies page. Generally formalise the language and don't exaggerate "WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF ONE OF THE UK'S PREMIER COUNTRY ROCK OUTFITS.HERE YOU WILL FIND ALL THE INFORMATION ON THE BAND INCLUDING GIG LISTS, INDVIDUAL BAND MEMBERS BIOG'S AND PEN PICS, PLUS A WHOLE HOST OF OTHER INTERESTING STUFF..........HONEST!" Should become "Welcome to the Official Website of The Dirty Hat Band" |

I think that it isn't BLOG, but Biogs(biographies).
Personally I would bullet point *Videos * Reviews * Contact Information * Biographies This would make it easier to read. Good luck with the degree. |

the pic is great, the font is not. tabs might look better on the side. and yes, the white background makes it look a bit basic where a colour might get away from that.

Thanks all for your input................Will be pulling the site down by Tuesday and will revamp, taking your comments into account. The original site should be back up by Tuesday night (hopefully!). Thanks also for the good luck messages...........Im gonna need it lol.
