Yeah, you're right, Val, it says on Ground Guide that the stadium's a 35 minute walk from the station. Thought it was nearer than that. Never mind, there's always taxis.

Got the impression from this forum over the years that you like your beer and both Dewsbury and Huddersfield have popular station bars. Add Stalybridge in as well and I guess you'd be looking at a 3 day trip!!

I would've thought there'd be a bus to the ground as leeds is very easy to get to on the train for the majority of football fans. Or if there's not will there not be a coach going from Accy?

They run buses from the city centre to the ground and back after games - not sure how much fun that would be especially compared to a walk through Holbeck from the centre. Only ever used that bus for a RL international 20 odd years ago.

Service bus is a 51 or 51A but I don't think they stop near the ground when there's a match on.

Cherrr Ching

They had 10,430 for the QF at home V Grimsby so there should be another five figure gate and I bet its not just £13 and £15 to get in so should be excellent shared receipts.

David v Goliath from the tv companies point of view one would hope

A great incentive for the Club to cash in commercially with merchandise and really help promote the Club, if it had been at home the cost of stewarding & policing for such a high profile game may have outweighed the home advantage.

It is a one off game nothing to lose let's go there with our heads held high and give um a good game!

One final note what about the Club offering subsidised coach pricing for the game:
As an incentive for a big away following
A Thank You to everyone who rallied round in their darkest hours
It would maybe help boost the gate so would perhaps offset it against better joint gate receipts?

I feel a bit sorry for Tom Lees. He's, almost visibly, grown as a player whilst he's been with us and now one would expect him to have to miss out on our big day.

I'd be very surprised if Leeds allowed him to play against them. Unless, of course, the rules on half season loans prevent them blocking him doing so.

Re: Johnstone's Paint Trophy

if it is shared gate receipts then £7.50 (or so) per adult would be recouped for every traveller on subsidised travel - they could certainly look at doing something. But on the other hand this is our Wembley so we need to capitalise financially from this game.

As far as TV is concerned it might be thought favouritism to feature Leeds in two consecutive games - they were on against Grimsby. And the Southern section Southampton V Norwich might be seen as commercially more viable.

Hoping for a thousand from Accy for this. It should definitely be our highest away following since pre-62. HYPE IT

Selkie 14-11-2009 11:28

Re: Johnstone's Paint Trophy

This is the JPT so finances will not be great. There is more likely to be more money for Accrington if it is not on TV.

I am not sure of the split but other cup competitions split receipts 3 ways each club and the governing body. For the last 2 JPT games Leeds have charged £5 for concessions and £10 for adults. Leeds were on TV last time in the JPT and the TV money paid to both clubs was a paltry £10,000. The Leeds first round FA Cup game played 3 days earlier which was on the internet only both clubs received £67,500. If the game is not on TV the increase in the gate will be more than the 1000 fans needed to cover the £10,000. If not on TV it could be a 15,000 gate dependant on how many Accrington bring.

If you are travelling to Leeds by train the options to get to the ground are Taxi. Plenty at the station and there is also a queue of taxis just up past McDonalds after the game.

You can catch the bus. If you come out of the main entrance to the station, cross over the road where all the taxis are and go down the steps you come out facing a pub called the Scarborough Taps. Turn right and walk under the tunnel then the first road left is where Special buses will take you to the ground. For a 7.45 kick off they may start at about 6-6.30. It will cost you £2.50 return.

The third option is to walk. Again come out of the station’s front entrance down the steps and turn right under the tunnel but this time keep on walking following the road until you come to the Bewerley Hotel. Walk round the hotel and you will see a Halfords on the corner you need to keep going straight on passing Halfords on your right. Keep going crossing over several roads and eventually the path will end and there will be a pathed slope down to your right go down there and walk straight on. Eventually you will come to a tunnel on your left and a path through a park. Do not go through the tunnel but walk straight on through the park. There is a little tunnel at the end of the path which you go through. There will be a fish and chip shop in front of you. Turn left go up the slop and as you are crossing over a bridge you will see Elland Road. Take the next right and you will be there.

great draw for you lot, looking forward to seeing plenty of you at elland rd.

there is a bus near the station on sovereign street the r2, it is £2.50 return, and drops you off right next to the east stand. departs from the same bus park after the game.

leeds will be pretty busy at that time of night, i wouldnt recommend walking as most of the boozers on route have been shutdown:mad:

big wetherspoons at leeds station, scarborough just outside ok as well. the last bus for er leaves approx 15mins before kickoff, there is often away fans on these.

see ya there:tongueout

Great draw for Stanley as it will generate some much needed revenue, however doubt there will be 10000 at the game, we only pulled 10000 for the last round with Grimsby and Grimsby brought about 2500 at a guess

Tickets will be around £15 then concessions for kids and seniors so average around £13

A lot of Leeds fans (myself included) want OUT of this Tin Pot Cup and should have got out a lot earlier, but Bates being Bates no doubt wants the big money final to line his pockets even further as Simon Grayson has played 1st Team in all rounds to date

TV rights should bring in around £70k each (Sky TV)

Am an exile living near Leeds and journey back is easy enough only about 45 minutes drive, but beware of the bloody speed cameras through the roadworks on the M62!
If anyone is driving instead of the lousy trains, parking at ground £5, but some street parking available in Geldard Rd/Lowfields Rd area on industrial estate (check individual streets as some are no parking). If you look on googlemaps or anything like that though it doesnt show that you cant get down lowfields rd by car from stadium end, instead need to come off at j1 m621, take 1st exit off roundabout and then right at lights down Gelard Rd (A62), park around the Lowfields Rd area and walk through under motorway down Lowfields Rd and to stadium.
lowfields rd, leeds - Google Maps
Come on Stanley!

Even at home, we could have lost to any of the those, plus at home we would have a smaller gate = less cash! Elland Road is OK by me :)

agreed Revived Red. we were the better side against QPR but we were unlucky to lose - and miss out on Chelsea in the next round! Our luck has to change in these games.

we would have been unlikelier to beat Leeds over two legs in the area final so this is better. imagine how gutting it would be to lose (narrowly?) in the final and miss out on a trip to wembley

There's nowt from Accy but there's Mike Jones' goal for Bury (against us!). Well, why not? :)

after watching the not so mighty leeds v kettering today i take bk wat i said in my earlier post. Leeds looked like they struggled and as leeds dont count the jpt as a major trophy here`s hoping for a 3-2 win c`mon stanley

They'll be a totally different on their own patch with a good following behind them...

That said their back line seem to struggle against pace, both full backs look vulnerable and they don't seem to handle set pieces too well.....wonder if Mr. C was down Kettering way or watchin' at home before his Sunday roast????

I agree their right back really didn't like being run at especially cutting in on the inside, if Milesy aint suspended I reckon he could have a field day there, might get him back onto form.
