another start for young McConville, hope he shows more of his potential. Needs to get his head down and become a real outlet for counter attacks.

yeah but with Murphy and King (full backs) on the bench I would have thought it best to bung them for a few minutes experience and put Winnard to centre back - try to preserve the point?

not complainign at Kee getting a run out though cos he needs it, but seemed an odd choice

That'll do for me. Every time we play Bradford I cant help but think about the fact that Coley has taken us from Bradford PA to Bradford CITY, in the same division no less. Anyways I digress, an excellent point in an Alamo like situation by all accounts.

Just seen penalty incident, what was Bobby doing? Nevermind at least it did not cost us the game for once :)

Phil Whalley 22-11-2009 11:37

Re: V Bradford away

At half-time we didn't look like we could get anything from the game as Bradford were playing well. I've always enjoyed our games with Bradford as they give you the chance to have a go yourself, but yesterday they were far more compact when we had possession and we didn't make much headway at all. We then gifted them their opener.

But to give the lads the utmost credit, in the second-half they pushed Bradford back and were well worth the equaliser, and it wasn't the only clear opening that was created, the Bradford keeper making a couple of one-on-one saves. Bavs also did well to deny a Bradford striker who found himself clear on the right hand side of the box.

But the final 15 minutes were chaotic - and brilliant. The ref was bravely resisting the temptation to give the howling home hordes what they wanted, so top marks to him. But there was little complaint about the pen, which, of course, we assumed was game over, but the lad placed it well wide. We then went down the other end and missed a glorious chance, before they had the ball in the net after a neat, low finish from the edge of the box. The home fans were dancing around and giving us the finger only for the ref to disallow it, having spotted an infringement. Pure football nirvana.

Well done to Coley and the lads for a stirring second-half and a point well-deserved.

My lad loved the Tom Lees song - he goes to school in Leeds and has been telling his mates about it today - it might get sung all round the ground on the 15th.

Re: V Bradford away

I went to Bradford. Wet and miserable day.:( Another great Ultras effort with big flag display and constant vocal support!!:theband: First half fairly even except for Bavs mad run into "No mans land" for their goal. Phil was unfortunate finding difficulty judging ball skidding off wet turf and not realising there was no Bradford players behind him. We tried to play better passing game in first half. Second half was more frantic and end to end as both teams tried to press forward and defences struggled with the wet skiddy conditions. We scored great goal. Symes was very cool with his finish.:mosher:Final minutes saw Bradford press forward as one or two of our players tired due to amazing amount of running done earlier. Procky was tireless in his efforts and Bobby too did a lot defensively. Bobby ran so much and looked out on his feet towards the end and maybe Coley bringing on King as sub would have been a good idea with 10 minutes to go. Exciting closing minutes as we were under the cosh.:eek: Bobby did a "Maradona" at the near post from a corner. Bavs helped to put off penalty taker by going the right way.:tongueout Then they hit the post but we immediately broke out and should have scored in dying seconds. " I would have loved it", (Keegan style), if we had scored the winner then!! Bradford also had a goal disallowed for offside somewhere in this final frenzy!! Can't understand why more Stanley supporters did not make the trip to Bradford. We are the smallest club in the league and Bradford is a "City" club with a fairly recent Premier League history and for us to continue to get any kind of a result there is amazing. Well done Stanley and our loyal small band of amazing supporters.:):):) Opinions from Bradford Forum -Our 11,000 were outsung by 50 Stanley supporters!!

choirboy 23-11-2009 20:35

Re: V Bradford away

Just found the quote from Bradford forum - "Getting outsung by 50 Accy fans was embarrasing". My view - to be outsung by the best suppoerters in the world is a privilege not an embarrasment. It was a privilege for me to sing with the Stanley fans!!
