visit to stanley

Hi

Am hoping to visit Stanley this month as its one of few grounds not been to. Regarding the old ground at peel park i believe it is now a park. how far is it from where stanley play now? what street/road is it on?

will pop into your pub before game - i presume this is close to the ground.

Hi John,
The old "ground" is about ten minutes walk from the town centre in the direction of Burnley on Turkey street, overlooked by the Coppice hill, a good viewpoint for appreciating the rows of old industrial stone terraced housing which makes up a large part of Accy. It is now a school playing field only. The adjacent Peel Park pub is a good 'un. The Crown pub is next to the current ground about another 15 mins walk in the direction of Clayton-le-Moors.

If you do visit Peel Park, John, it's worth looking out for the one section of the ground that still survives - the dressing rooms, complete with "Built by the Supporters Club 1937" inscription.

The Peel Park pub's postcode, -for your sat-nav, is BB5 6EW. 5mins drive away from the present Crown ground. The best beer in town, and excellent pie&peas or sandwiches.
