Chester City - this week

Quite a long read, but a fascinating insight into EW's new best friend.:D

Chester City Football Club: The Death Rattle (Part 7)

And if you fancy something a bit shorter, here's what the Barrow fans think!

"Chester City have been given the go ahead to continue playing in the Blue Square Premier, the article later in the Newsletter from that excellent blog at
| Twohundredpercent puts what all of us are thinking into words. The short version is that Vaughan Senior (now will be known as Vaughan the Dishonest), has lent Vaughan the Younger the GB36,000 needed to allow them to continue.

Vaughan's lackey at the club, Bob Gray says, well, a pile of tosh really, but describes Vaughan the Dishonest, not Vaughan the Younger, as rhino-skinned, and means it as a compliment. Really? Anyone know a big-game hunter? Gray closes by saying: "That has kept the club afloat, and now we should be all right."

Yes, and the moon's made of cheese.

And Vaughan the Dishonest won't interfere with the running of the club.

And the supporters will be happy he's still involved.

And Vaughan the Dishonest will be getting a statue in Barrow in recognition for all he did at Holker Street."

Aren't we lucky to have Ilyas!!

Strange to note how their crowds dropped from 3000 to 1300, just like ours?? What price success and promotion???

and Chester City's new Director of Football is this Morell Maison

BBC Sport - Football - Chester's Jim Harvey unfazed by Morell Maison arrival

seems like a passionate chap

wonder what happened to the bloke who used to be Director of Football there?

i read about the Maison chap last night, and started looking for info on EW. I know when he went there there was an article on the website about it - yet when I searched under Eric Whalley there was no story found, other than the last time we played them. He went as Director of Football but is not listed under any guise at the moment. Perhaps the paperwork just hasn't been sent yet? Word is that it will happen in the next week or two ...

Stephen Vaughan kills football clubs (& rugby).... FA's fit & proper persons fiasco is a sham, in fact the FA are a sham. Only care about 20 clubs, whereas football cares about 92.... (& all the Non League too).

The FA should hang their collective heads, hope they pull through

There's a similar article to the one Bradshaw Boy found in the Liverpool Post: Liverpool Daily Post.co.uk - Sport - Chester FC - Jim Harvey – It’s still busines as usual here for me as Chester City manager. This one also asks what is happening to Eric.

Although, in November, Eric was rumoured to be interested in buying the club: http://www.flintshirechronicle.co.uk...9067-25201896/ !

Can't see the conference putting up with them much longer;

Chester's trip to Forest Green on Tuesday has been called off at late notice after the cash-strapped club's players refused to get on the team bus. The game was postponed at 1711 GMT, two and a half hours before kick-off, after Forest Green received a call saying that City could not fulfil the fixture.
"Negotiations had been going on all day," revealed former managing director Rob Gray, who is still at the club.
"But, in the end, we'd no option but to say we could not fulfil the fixture."
Crisis club Chester's players had gone unpaid for three months until receiving a week's salary prior to last weekend's home defeat by Ebbsfleet.

Looks like their week-end game could be in danger also

Daily Post North Wales - Sport News - Wrexham FC - Chester City FC v Wrexham FC's Deva Stadium derby called off

I am afraid I can't see them surviving long. It's so so sad to see this happening again.
Hopefully their fans can keep the faith and take at least some heart from the Accrington Stanley story

Chester Supporter groups have been preparing for some time for this inevitable conclusion and it seems most of the fanbase are "happy" for the club to close - it's the only way they can get rid of the Vaughan fella.

It's a sad day for football but it would be interesting to see if any court claims for incompetence or something can come out of this due to the directors not acting in the best interests of the company.

Good luck to all the Welsh/English border huggers

Just seen that, bit strange - why would anyone want to buy a club that's about to be expelled from the conference?
