Shirt pulling
We have been penalised a lot for this offence in the area recently when the ref has had his eyes peeled around our goalmouth. It is very easy for both ref and liner to miss 'em though, and we all know there could have been many more given away at each end of the pitch by sneaky defenders in every match from way back when. I hate to see it happening, but without having extra officials in place around each penalty area, which is obviously a non-starter, I would like it to be an automatic red card whenever spotted. This would make defenders think twice before grabbing shirts, and if it resulted in the practice being eradicated would make it less of a lottery re. the result of the match.
What does everyone think? |

Re: Shirt pulling
All we need is for all match officials is to apply FA rules properly.
Pulling an opponents shirt is a foul! :mad:Result should be a free kick - simple!:) The game is cllaed "FOOTball" - the name does not mention ARMS! There are other rules not applied that also spoil the beautiful game:confused: Use of Elbows.... Obstruction...... Wrapping arms around opponents from set pieces in particular ......Foul and abusive language.:mad::mad::mad: Some would argue that these are all just part of the "Moden Game" :confused:but they are against the rules!!!:) Time to apply the basics and we will get better football, more goals and better entertainment.:) By 'eck, I sound like a grumpy old git!!;) |
Re: Shirt pulling
OK, Bob, but the simple fact is that much of the shirt pulling is missed by the officials and so they can't apply the rules. My point is that making it a red card offence would make defenders think twice if they thought they were going to be spotted and given their marching orders. Managers would quickly put a stop to it if they thought one of their men could be sent off in the first minute!
As for your other point, arm-wrapping and obstruction at set pieces mostly happens when the ball is not yet in play and therefore cannot be penalised at that particular time (I think). Once the ball is in play then it's another matter. Shall we form a club for grumpy old men? |

"arm-wrapping and obstruction at set pieces mostly happens when the ball is not yet in play and therefore cannot be penalised at that particular time (I think)". Consider this Case study - So just before a corner is being taken one player sticks a glasgow kiss on an opponent, -(nuts him). Applying your "logic" then the ref can't penalise or send him off?! - because the ball is not in play????:confused::confused: Strange rule if it is one Mike!! ps Aren't we already in the old geezers grumpy club (Senior Ultras)!! :pHa ha ! |

I only mentioned arm wrapping and obstruction. Never, ever, penalised when the ball is dead. Stop missing the point!!!!:D |
Re: Shirt pulling
