:) Been down to the ground today, the pitch is still covered with about 5/6 inches of snow with one big snowman near the dressing room:) Mick said that the pitch its self is soft underneaith. But with that amount of snow on the pitch and the terraces have the same unless theres abig up turn in the weather then nochance, even lvingston road and out side the grounds would be doemed unsafe.if the Gills game is postponed then it'l be played on the following tuesday instead of the home league game against maccalsfield:)

How on earth can Mick see under 5 to 6 inches of snow to say that the pitch is soft underneath:eek::eek:

He's either been digging or passing on what I've told him!!!

Yes the pitch is reasonably soft under the covers, I've been daft enough to have a look.

Took me 10 minutes to get my hands warm enough to drive the car!!!

Taken from Telegraph site

ACCRINGTON Stanley plan to hold a pitch inspection on Monday morning to determine whether there is any chance of Tuesday’s FA Cup third round tie at home to Gillingham going ahead.

More snow and freezing temperatures are forecast up until Tuesday but Stanley have been told by the FA that the earliest they can hold an inspection is Monday.

If the game cannot go ahead it will be rescheduled for Tuesday, January 19 - meaning the postponement of the home league match against Macclesfield on that date.

9.00am pitch inspection - GAME OFF
http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/g...lingham_fc.gifOur match against Gillingham scheduled to take place tomorrow evening has been postponed due to the conditions in and around the Crown Ground here in Accrington.

A Football League referee visited the club this morning and particularly bearing in mind the distance between the two clubs it was decided to be in the best interests of all concerned to make the early decision.

Although this game will go down as been postponed because as the media say a frozon pitch ,it ant the whole story IMHO!! i would imagin that the ref looks at everything including the Health & safty of the fans getting to the ground ie snow ice and the same on the terrices and with 5/6inches of snow as well as covers on the pitch, which has protected it alot from the frost.but as it says above (Best intrests of all concerned ):)
