Difficult call really. Taking it off now might make the pitch more frozen and it takes longer to thaw out. Realistically I suppose they took the view that Tuesday was highly unlikely whatever they did. |
Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
Are the covers on the pitch ?
|
Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
About half the pitch usually, I think!! :)
|
Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
Yeah, not fully covered, some places are tripled up
|
Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
As a Gills fan was wondering what the conditions around the Crown were like as this might have a greater bearing than the pitch inspection in the morning. Is it above or below freezing in Accy tonight?
|
Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
2 degrees above but that is pretty imaterial. We have snow coverage and until it gets a couple of degrees higher for a day or two the snow and Ice is here to stay. I would be shocked if the game is on.
|
Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
The roads and car park will be clear on Tuesday.
|
Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
i reckon its 50-50 light rain at the moment, may not freeze cos of wind?
|
Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
fingers crossed for this one, I really need to get to a football related drink fest
|
Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
Fingers crossed as well! missing my stanley fix:D and it raining over in here and seems to be melting the snow:)
|
Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
The fact that they are inspecting it at 9am the day before tells a story.

Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
Stanley v Gillingham
Sunday 10th Jan 2010 Pitch inspection in the morning. There will be an early inspection of the pitch and surrounding areas at 9.00am on Monday morning ahead of our FA Cup third round match against Gillingham, scheduled to take place on Tuesday evening. The game was originally postponed last Saturday due to heavy snowfall at the Crown Ground and the weather has since gone on to cause havoc to the fixture schedule over the last week or so. The result of the inspection will be posted here on the official Stanley website as soon as it is available. :) |

Stanley v Gillingham
Monday 11th Jan 2010 9.00am pitch inspection - GAME OFF Our match against Gillingham Town scheduled to take place tomorrow evening has been postponed due to the conditions in and around the Crown Ground here in Accrington. A Football League referee visited the club this morning and particularly bearing in mind the distance between the two clubs it was decided to be in the best interests of all concerned to make the early decision. A date for the rearranged tie will be confirmed later today. :( :( |

Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
Im sure Buzzer and other people have been putting their effort in so much to try and get this game on but like many other football grounds across the country their games have been called off too. With a ground like ours its impossible to get games on in this weather. I think we need to think about the effort the groundstaff have had to put in these last few weeks :)

Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
Indeed - also not forgetting the work they will have to do when everything DOES start to thaw out and the UK becomes flooded - wonder if every man and his dog on Facebook will be saying Ive got water in my back garden... look!

That's what set's apart the Stanley fans from most others maybe small in numbers but they are Big of Heart and always there for the Club in their "Hours of Need" The Club would do well to remind themselves of that from time to time |
Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
so will we have a game on sat or will it be of.f can anyone give us a time or date if we the fans or need to help out around the picth again
|
Re: Pitch Inspection Monday Morning.
You would have thought that with the thaw now under way the snow needs clearing from the pitch as soon as possible, otherwise Saturday will be off because of standing water.
